Does anyone have any views or recommendations on these? I have (had...) one which I tried to use once only to find its own battery had gone flat, and when I fished it out today to charge it up found that the two casing halves had started to prize themselves apart from each other. So it's going in the recycling bay on my next trip to the dump.

I'll be interested in whether the collective wisdom on here says they're a life-saver and well worth having or prone to being a bit useless and a pointless novelty.

Well worth having. I often use it at car shows to help others out as well. I have the top of the orange NOCO to cope with the V12 should it ever be needed. Not let me down yet.

I used a NOCO Boost Plus GB40 to start my Maser GT when the battery went flat while it was in storage and have also used it to start my GTV Cup. Had it for over 2 years and still works fine. Decent bit of kit IMHO and saved my bacon several times when a car wouldn't restart at the petrol station!

Hard to go wrong with any of these mini jump starter battery packs. Got my Q5P started up to get onto a flatbed when the alternator had failed. Mine has been fine for about 3 years.

I believe this is the current model version to the one I purchased back then…

Seconded. Turns over anything I've had without blinking. It gets more use rescuing people in the neighborhood when they are flat. :)

rescued a landscaper mate with his pick up a couple years ago, he had a chuckle when i got the noco out thinking it would never start it and thought i had one of those humongous battery packs garages seem to use, , turn of a key it fired up his truck, they do pack a punch

One of my old Jag diesels...
There's a video on line somewhere of a bloke wandering around a pound in the middle of winter somewhere like Colorado just starting huge yank trucks over and over. I think he did 17 or something

Put it in the battery recycling - the battery has started to swell and so it should be handled appropriately.

I’ve got a GB50 and it lives in the car now. Bought it after Matt used one to save us when the alarm drained everything in Italy.

Up to 7l petrol and 4.5l diesel supposedly. Been used a few times on a variety of cars so would definitely recommend. Unfortunately not been able to test the 7l limit ;)

The GB70 upwards has permanently wired jump cables which are thicker but make the whole unit bigger. The GB50 downwards these are separate and are plugged in, if I was buying now I would probably go for a GB50 as the kids tend to use it on holidays as an emergency charger for their tech so the smaller size is more appropriate

Yep. This would not be something an airline would be happy to have in the hold.

Interestingly, the Clarke jump start packs are exactly the same hardware as my old burst one but with a different sticker. Noco looks like they build their own product (admittedly in CN, VN and MY).

Got a GB70 from Halfords using a trade card, malfunctioned after a month , replaced without problem .
Also have a snap on style big red booster pack, which apart from its obvious bulk is a far superior pack than the GB70 as you can start dozens of cars per charge .

On my more exotic cars I try and charge them rather than using a pack on them as I’m worried about blowing electrics on the car

I bought a cheapo Halfords one and it barely registered with the QPV. Certainly didn't start it!

It was something a bit like this:

And I was probably warned.
