Thank you. I own the little red replica that is my Avatar. Couldn't afford a real one of these. Still not sure I can afford the replica either!

Will try to attach pics - I prefer my technology old, like cars!
It's a replica A6GCS/53 built in New Zealand (amazing craftsmen at reasonable prices). One of two built by a company called Auto Restorations of Christchurch - the other went to the USA. For any Maserati Club members it was fully written up in the Spring 2013 edition of Trident magazine. The drive-train is ........... Nissan Skyline! I finally got in on the road here in April 2012. It will be on the club stand at some stage during the Silverstone Classic and I'm also taking it down to the Le Mans Classic next July.

Welcome, fantastic car. I know who owns the registration number A6 GCS but also know he's unlikely to ever sell it!
looking forward to hearing more about your car.

Yes, I believe he's a big Maserati dealer in Manchester. The pity is that the A6GCS number plate could only be put on a replica as the plate can't go on an older car.

It's a hand-made car to a design owned by an Australian. The chassis/frame is very similar to the original and is quite a work of art, being of a Superleggera style. Will attach a picture below. The body mould came from an original A6GCS which was being restored in the late 80's I believe. Mine is made from marine-grade composite, though you'd never tell from the surface finish, lined with ali and mostly ali internal panelling. I found the design after reading an article about replicas in Classic and Sports Car magazine. This initially led me to an outfit in Washington State, USA, but their replica used a basic box-frame chassis, a big V8 with sidewinders both sides and independent suspension all round. Intensive Googling eventually found the Antipodean version. Although the chassis/underpinnings were much better, the overall appearance was disappointing and they were using an assembler of Cobra kitcars for the build (2 completed). They had subsequently switched build to Auto Restorations and massively improved the appearance. They were doing an all-ally car for the USA. Long story short I ordered what would be the 2nd one made by AR and at the moment it looks like no more will be built (no more nutters like me in the world!)
Car has Nissan Skyline (non-turbo) engine and 'box (same config as original, mid-capacity straight 6, dohc, induction on right and exhaust on left. IFS, de Dion semi independent rear, Steering and brakes by Mazda. I rather like the combination of stunning classic Italian looks with Japanese reliability!
It goes very well - have entered it in a couple of sprints though not remotely expecting to be competitive in its class (it goes up against Caterhams and Radicals!) More of a smooth glider than the darting frenetics of my Caterham, but very enjoyable. About 190bhp and 800kgs.
When funds permit I have several development ideas - quieter(only a bit!) but better flowing exhaust, throttle body injection (currently stock Nissan, which is a bit of a visual let-down under the engine cover), lightened flywheel are the main items. Closer ratio 'box would be nice too.
It'll be out and about as much as possible next year though not sure I can do Modena in Sept, so please come and say hello.Barchetta 4 005.jpgBarchetta 4 004.jpgBarchetta 4 003.jpg
