You could do worse. And there is always my car to refer to for reference etc.

It needs interior (shouldn't be a problem), windscreen available but pricey, and some other odds and ends. The rest is ready to go back together once the body has been done. The body is not in bad condition in terms of rust, then it's just a big airfix kit. assembly is the reversal of dismantling.

In the real world you need a group who have the spare cash and can in the worse case afford to loose their share if it all went wrong! Tall order just like in a business every thing is hunky dory when the firm is started but cracks can appear with out warning!

Still I'm up for a punt.

Ok...there is a thread on this, all options....number of buyers ( in 5ths/10ths, or shares?) what car/what year - era /budget to buy/budget to refurb/budget to run- maintain/whose name on book, where kept, allocation of drive time...how long to keep it, other uses option to use it for....list is significant....

Yeah it does sound like putting a jigsaw together now that I read it back. But as Pib says it all comes down to putting down the cash like any othe rbusiness and being prepared for it to go either way. It's up to 16.6K and reserve has not been met, that concerns me as I think he said the reserve was not much more than the opening bid, but that started at 15K.

But it does include a fully rebuilt engine which I know from experience is not a small amount.

Whever does get it will be onto a nice one when finished, and they will know it was good under the skin. If the 18K miles are genuine then again that would be a bonus. I suspect it may go to the continent being a left hooker following the trend of most LHD cars in recent years. But with folk asking near £50K for sorted cars (I know that doesn't mean they got it) it would be a bargain if it went under the hammer below £20K. I've got a feeling that it will get pushed above that.

This would be a great project this model has lots going for it, It's a manuall, LHD , 4.900 c , 18 K miles, I wish had the workshop to do it, how much money would be required to complete the car to pristine condition if you got it for £20k, and if you had it would you keep it yellow?

Cost is all down to how much you can do yourself as Loz often says. Major work is body and interior, items that will have to involve specialists. Again difficult to gauge as it will depend on what deal could be struck with the specialists. Both aspects of the car would have to be perfect otherwise not worth touching. The previous owner looks to have carried out some quality work be a shame to get it done on the cheap.

As for colour, not my favourite on a khamsin, but as only 7 were done like this you would want to keep it.

Hi Guys

I own the Khamsin in question - perhaps if I had had the sense to view this thread a week ago I could have saved myself a lot of bother! Anyway, the reserve for the car was £23k so it was very close. I'm currently in discussions with a couple of the underbidders - they are located in Europe as I could have guessed, which is fine and I'm happy to transport the car over, but it would be a whole lot easier if I could sell the car in the U.K. If anyone wants to make me an offer, either alone or as a consortium (makes it sound like a racehorse, but much better long-term odds!!) then please PM me asap, as I would like to get this wrapped up next week as Emblem need the space - I promised Myles I'd be out by the time of their open day or I'll be taking up the space for their champagne and oyster bar (we can but wish..). As I said in my description, I'm happy to help in sourcing any of the missing parts, but to be honest apart from a new windscreen (which I've just located) and the interior, it's pretty much there. I would love to keep it but I'm on the finishing straight of my own Khamsin restoration, and I can't devote any time to it.

Any questions just let me know!
Regards, Doug

Hi Doug,

Thanks for coming onto the forum to tell us about the Khamsin!

It would be fabulous if it did stay in the UK.......no doubt, your post will have stimulated more interest plus questions.

Good luck with the sale and let us know if it stays in the UK

Regards,

P
