Kill Button

I know most people know about this little beast, I thought it was about time thoughts were posted on this button.
During the past week, don't ask me why...but I have witnessed two of our breed having their buttons depressed by silly billies.
One unfortunately has now been retired (Stripped for parts), the other has been repaired (not perfect).
To all newcomers thinking about joining the family......the Italians in their wisdom created a beast...... Maserati.
The beast is equipped with a button....... Traction control !
Quick question:- have you ever ridden a donkey on a beach ? (Normal driving) now compare that to a wild stallion (traction control button depressed)!
How long do you think you can ride a wild stallion ?
DO NOT press this button, this is only my opinion.
Hopefully there will be more interesting posts to follow this one.

Call me chicken if you want but I have only ever switched it off at the wet handling day Miles organised last year.... And thankfully it has saved my bacon several times due to LODA!!!!

I have survived too but its best to be careful as you think you get used to the raw power and want more that was my main reason in chooseing a full auto in the 456 makes me drive in atotally different way to cambio corsa in the 4200.

I had it off once !!!!! lol .....Had a few things in front of car, somehow the button depressed. In damp conditions, 30-35mph at a junction. Baby decided to start the dance and went backward ended up 5ft from a tree.No damage... had 2 sons in car at time !!!.....kept it sort of under control, but undies had a skid mark for trophy ! I'm like a fighter pilot now......run through key in..... fire up.....check dash.....leave to idle.....check dials......all ok.....press sport button......Check Kill button is off.......smile.....then the thrill doth begin

Definitely one to be wary of with the 3200. When the turbo's kick in you have to have your wits about you at the best of times. Sadly there have been reports of several 3200's that have lost control because of this. Roundabouts and wet road paint are often the triggers. Seems less of an issue on the 4200 / GS, as the power delivery is much more linear, and on a track it's actually better to turn it off, as it get's in the way, but only on a track.

Have none of you, taken fast road/track day courses? A mate of mine runs such a thing. He can go to most tracks, but likes Donnington, or Oulton

Hi Andy,

We've done numerous forum track days and I also organised a wet handling day that several forum members attended. The wet handling day seemed to be the best way to loose it completely, but under safe conditions. Maybe it's time to organise another? Last time around it was at Rockingham. What's involved in the fast road / track courses that your mate runs, and in who's car? Might be worth investigating further if there's enough interest?

Cheers, Miles.

I'd be interested in a wet handling day. Having been driving for 25 years it's probably high time I learned how to do it properly.

I would never dare turn off traction control in the 3200, however the 4200 is a pussycat in comparison. Also, I understand the basics of grip and centrifugal force, which helps!

Interestingly, I have yet to meet a TVR driver who relies on an ASR button :)

I love fluffy kittens too Pat.

Only had the ASR off once by accident due to it not initialising...scared Sophie sh**less got a smack in the mouth from her and an earfull for spoiling her 'Victoria Secrets'. ;0)
