Leaking power steering fluid.

My power steering was making an awful noise and I noticed it had lost a lot of fluid and on topping up it was cured. Problem is I am still losing fluid and it seems to be leaking near the front drivers side. I’ll be taking off the undertray for a proper look but has anyone had this before and what was the fix?. Can only think it’s a holed/broken pipe BBQ or Union as the steering is perfect otherwise. Any pointers greatly appreciated!

What model is it? If a Coupe it could be the power steering oil cooler radiator which is known to fail? (mine did years ago).

Good luck sorting it out.

Get a torch and shine it through your front grill. As already mentioned chances are its the power steering cooler which sits in front of the radiator. They perish over time. Upgraded version available from Marios at Autoshield off the shelf or fitted if prefered.

You should be able to see the leak through the front grill.

The part your looking for looks like the image below and goes the full width of the main radiator. Im assuming yours is a 4200 or GS.

Thanks for the advice all. Yep the coolers leaking so have contacted Marios and will follow up tomorrow. Lot of nice red fluid leaking out and making a mess. Not sure if it can be replaced with the nose cone on?

Hi unfortunately the front has to come off to fit the new cooler. Doesn’t take too long tbh. I think YouTube is where I found great info if you need that

I suggest that you look at other parts that can be refreshed, replaced (air filter!) or repaired whilst the front is off. A bit of mission creep but you don't want anything else to go once it's all back together.

Do you AC rad and Cooling rad at the same time... they will all be rusted out at the bottom and the parts are very cheap for Maserati.
