Lighting fault indicator with no apparent cause

Since the purchase of my rather troubled 2003 Spyder GT, I’ve been working through a long deficiency list. Finally down to the minor niggles, which includes the lighting fault indicator.
The fault light comes on when parking lights or headlights are turned on, and I get fast blinkers in both directions. All bulbs are incandescent, and all are illuminating properly. Confounding.
Has anyone traced such a fault before? Where is the processor that creates this alert? Is there a swappable module like the door lock ECU that we all know and love?

Not sure I fully understand all your light problems @todd.the.submariner , but we may have something similar - the fault light is on yet all lights seem to work fine - anyone any clues......... (or is he just tired and wants to come home after his 3000+ miles of European exercise with his front spots and side lights on)

Yep had something similar to that once. Someone had fitted the wrong wattage bulb. So it worked (was lit) as the bulb was ok but the ecu and flasher were reading an incorrect wattage/resistance.

As above, or possibly water ingress. It will be resistance related I would think. You could try replacing the bulbs . The rears could also be the issue, basically any bulb that comes on with sidelights/headlights.

It will be anything that lowers or raises the current flow from the controller to the bulbs. The current flow must remain within preset limits for each bulb wattage.

1. Bulbs - even if they shine. Incorrect wattage or a few turns shorted on the filament.
2. Poor connections - giving higher circuit resistances.
3. Battery volts - but would have to be outside of nominal range.

I think our problem could be that the near side front side light doesn't work - I just had a boy look when checking ;)

Thanks for sharing your experiences, sounds like this isn’t all that unique.
I think I’ll have a go at replacing all lights associated with turn signals first, as the fast blinker comes on in both directions. Last time I did this (LED replacement of all bulbs on my previous Coupe), my fingers were quite cross with me afterward.

Now I have a reason to head off to the parts shop!

I chased a lighting fault in a Renault I had years ago. I finally traced the cause to poorly crimped filaments on brake light bulbs! Sourced some different ones and never had the problem again!
