Living with a Stradale

XKR definitely not pipe and slippers, as others have said they're a very underrated car and great VFM.

Thanks Stu, I had read your posts on PH earlier in the week by sticking 'Stradale' into the PH search box, I now feel like a stalker...

DJZ1 I guess the 2012 cars are probably early £80k's so I can see the logic in what you did.

And regarding the car at Meridien, I'm not a huge fan of white and I'm really not sure about the blue interior and the rollcage, I watched a video on youtube of an American journo driving a 2013 Sport with the carbonfibre interior and steering wheel, now that looked fabulous. I've also seen black alcantara with yellow stiching, (yours Stu?), which also looked great.

Anyway, the search is on..

I ctually agree - its just that perception that seems to go with the Jag - I also agree they look VFM.

I have had a look at a couple in the last few weeks but cant seem to break the desire for a Maserati,

My interior is black alcantara with red stitching and with all the carbon fibre options (save for the boot spoiler). I think they did right by adding the carbon fibre bonnet to the 4-seater to balance out the weight addition of the rear seats. Ride height, passive dampers and the carbon-ceramic brakes do maketh a difference.

They had a similar jag xkr at a dealer near me apart from black/speed back and they drive friggin awesome but it's the aspect of will lose money quickly and haven't broken the image truly yet of being a builder of performance cars

Also after seeing and hearing the Maserati in the flesh, talking to Richard Grace about practical running costs and chatting to everyone on hear it became a no brainier for the Maserati, the Jag will definitely catch my eye and I'll stare whilst the Maserati is a jaw dropping beast that Ive become obsessed with watching YouTube videos of the exhaust notes and cackle

The XKR is an awesome piece of kit and with the rest of the range they are slowly getting rid of the old man image .... They make one of the best looking range of cars at the moment...

Stu, your Strad sounds terrific. It really is a terrific car. Apparently it's quite a different beast from the GTS MC - closer to but in many ways better than a 599. I need to never drive one, probably, not until I'm ready to sign away another four years...

I had an XFR and it was stellar. I think they actually look quite dated now, but the XK still looks amazing. It just doesn't seem to age, gets better if anything.

I have the roll cage and harnesses and I wouldn't change them for traditional seat belts. It just adds to the trauma of getting into the car, strapping it on and starting the engine. Such theatre. True, you can't just leap into the car, whip it out and take everything off, but how many times do you need to do a Le Mans start?
Live a little.

You wear more than one thong? Whatever floats your boat I guess!
