Looking for a Granturismo - perhaps an MC Shift?

Fantastic car. Good choice. Good luck! Mine is also from Nuvola, by the way, and I recommend them highly. Nareman is a good man - true to his word and of exacting standards. Others around here of equal repute are Dicky Grace (Richard Grace cars) and Bowker Maserati.

Incidentally, my car's on around 33k miles and clutch wear is ~60%. Could start slipping in 10k miles or 20k. Who knows.

Another thing, these cars are pretty manageable around town, in my opinion. Biggest issue is the size - same footprint as a Disco. They're buggers if you want to park / un-park on a hill but you get used to it soon enough. They can be total ****s when cold but a strange piece of black magic involves slowly pressing the accelerator to the floor a few times before starting. Seems to avoid jerkiness and looking a prat on a cold engine.

Happy hunting!

What are people's thoughts on colour combinations? Are people fans of black with a red interior? Or should I be sticking to black interior with contrasting stitching?

What about ones with alacantara inset into the seats?

I only ask because I want to ensure the best resale opportunity.

I have always used Warranty Direct for warranties. Much more comprehensive than manufacturer warranties as they cover the main thing that all warranty companies wriggle out of - WEAR AND TEAR! I have had their cover on all my cars where needed and the claim success rate was 100%. They had even paid for a clutch on my DB9 !!!!!!! The cover you want is Luxury care or Extra care. Any one of these two and it's pretty much like a new car warranty.

Well worth a try IMHO.

I did the warranty direct and Yep around 1500 for a year then discounts down for 2 and 3 they also offer payment plans

Chap rang me and sent out all the details, seems to offer comprehensive cover and any work Id get done at Bowker as only 20 mins away

A black car with red leather.........Love it.....so much more interesting than black leather......ALthough black leather with white stitching or something like that always lifts the interior....

There is a black GTS for sale at a Mclaren specialist with red leather and it looks stunning....

From memory, when you start the car there is no Mc shift displayed......then as the car warms up the light comes on saying its available.......which means again from memory.....above 5000 revs, quicker shifts. it's not something you select....it's there if needed automatically..if you floor it.
Hill starts, there is a "pedal slowly to the floor"thread somewhere here before starting the car that is supposed to help with the jerkiness.
Cheers Wattie

Also when you start up MC shift, what gear should it be in ? Neutral

No, starts in 1st. There is a good reason but I can't remember what. Something to do with clutch wear or strain on the gearbox. Can't remember exactly. Anyway, the car knows best on that front apparently.

MC Shift is available in manual and when the gearbox oil is fully warmed up. It speeds up gear changes when revs are over around 5k and the throttle is something like over 80% open, like Wattie said.

As a general tip to avoid jerkiness when starting from cold:

1. Ignition on
2. Press accelerator slowly to the floor three or four times
3. Start the engine
4. Enjoy less jerkiness.

Voodoo. But it works.

What are people's thoughts on an all red interior?

I haven't seen one yet ... will have to go and have a look and see if I like it.

On my second with a red interior - the first was black with a full red interior, and the second white with red (as per the little picture). It apparently isn't to everyone's taste, but I was adamant from the start that its what I wanted. I think the reason for me is two-fold: i) because I like it; ii) because you just don't get interesting interiors in cars i.e. typically in black or shades thereof, so why not!!?

thanks - I think I will stick to trying finding a black interior with contrasting stitching. I don't think I will be keeping it long term so I need to keep in mind ease of resale.
