Evening Gents,

Just found the site and have spent the last few hours perusing through the mountains of knowledge.

I'm looking to purchase a 4200 in the next few weeks and i'm currently looking at two.
First is here: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3660425.htm
Second here: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3872745.htm

I could afford to buy the first without having to borrow anything but the second may require the need for addition funds which i'm somewhat reluctant to do. Saying that, i want to make sure my first Maserati purchase is a sound one.

Can any of your give any advice or help on either car? Does anyone know the cars in question?

Any help, greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Kris

Hi Kris, welcome to the madness. Personally I would go for the second one from Dicky. I get my car serviced and looked after by Autoshield and Dicky is a regular on here. Both are very good to work with and are very reputable. Peace of mind is a comforting thing! The number one rule is get it inspected by an Indie and having been checked over by Autoshield is as good as it gets. That's not to say the blue one isn't a good car but you pay your money and you take your chance. Recommendation by word of mouth is worth it's weight in gold.

Thanks guys. I've already spoken to Marios about inspecting the blue one and spoke to Dicky today about the other one. My only hurdle at the present is the wife prefers the blue to the silver...!

Buy the best you can backed up with a full indie inspection and very well documented history/invoices

All good advice gents. Bit of a trek to get from Aberdeen down there to test drive them though :( - thats why i was asking if anyone might know either of the cars and save me the 6 hours drive!
My dad's had two 4200's over the last few years so between the two of us we'll weigh up both the invoices / history and Marios inspection report and make a decision based on that.

Just happened upon the thread, my car is Argento Luna Kris, not silver. It's a light shade of blue, if you google it you'll be able to find some other cars in the same colour. It looks silver in bright light so I can see why you thought so in the pictures. All the cars I sell are inspected prior to sale and any faults rectified. All this car required was a new clutch and otherwise it was spot on mechanically.

Thanks Richard, apologies for the slip of the tongue. I couldn't remember the correct name so settled for silver.

The
1st one is a lovely colour but go for the second one all day long. Low miles ,nice combo and Dicky is the seller.

No problem Kris, just weren't sure if you knew. Rare, stunning colour, one of the best in my opinion. I've posted that before, not just said it as I've got a car for sale :)

The first ones been spoken about on here before and the owner is on the other forum.....He could say when the clutch was done if I remember right but it is a cheap car.....

2nd one is the one to go for if you can stretch as its the face lift car with loads of upgrades and a better drive and as all have said so far Dicky is the chap to buy from if you are after a Maserati these days.....You will not go far wrong.
