I know there are downers on the new car but I struggle to see it when you see this stunning roadster.

Doesn't work for me. It looks dumpy. And those headlights...they are still all wrong. At that money, it needs to look stunning and correct from all angles. Which this does not (to my eyes). It's a shame.

I agree with Ewan. The interior is nasty, dated and feels cheap (perhaps because it's so dated), the headlights are squinty and the roadster, for all that it should look good, completely loses the elegance and proportions of its predecessor. It's good to drive but it's less fun than mine and doesn't sound as good.

The Valkyrie, however..!

Good news for the survival of the AM brand in the Times today…

Aston Martin drives back into the black after bumpy year

new
Aston Martin’s plant in Gaydon, Warwickshire. It sold more than 6,000 vehicles last year

Aston Martin Lagonda has claimed the first profit of its turbulent four and half years on the stock market.

The Warwickshire-based company, the only listed carmaker on the London Stock Exchange, said it turned a £16 million profit in the final trading quarter of 2022. The result follows a previous four years in which it racked up cumulative losses of £1.3 billion.

Stroll, a 63-year-old Canadian rag trade billionaire with an enthusiasm for motor racing, said: “As I have said before, I knew it would take multiple years to build Aston Martin into the world’s most desirable ultra-luxury British performance brand. With the heavy lifting behind us, we are now poised to see the results of this transformation, starting in 2023.”

The company said sales volumes would increase by up to 10 per cent to about 7,000 in 2023 and that those profit margins would touch 20 per cent.
My AML shares still only about 5% of the IPO price I paid though! Stupid heart vs head decision, but at least moving slowly up again now.

Sorry Andy really does nothing for me I see lines of the Lexus 430 SC in the rear and a MX5 on steroids from the front, even the Aston shaped grill looks like its not supposed to be there. A real let down considering the previous Vantage was one the best balanced designs I have ever seen in a modern

I agree on the old Vantage Andy. Perfectly balanced.

I just remembered it was me who started this thread. For me, the peak of AM manufacturing was 2014-16. The cars (Vantage, DB9 and Vanquish) were fully honed and simply beautiful with no fussy lines. Bizarrely, with the AMi III, the infotainment was first class and better than the out of date Mercedes systems they then fitted to the DB11 and new Vantage to overcome misplaced criticisms of what they had developed themselves (sadly very few owners got to experience AMi III unless they spent a lot of money upgrading (myself and F. Crud went for it with no regrets at all).

I am no photographer but I was really pleased with these shots taken on a recent visit to Bicester Heritage. 2015 Vanquish Ultramarine Black

AMi III, an expensive but very worthwhile upgrade. Thanks for the recommendation. Aston Martin Cambridge (RIP) send its gratitude.

I'm 12 months into Aston V12 ownership with my 2012 Virage.

Its my third Aston, the previous 2 being V8 Vantages but I really wanted to experience V12 ownership before its too late!
Fantastic car and a truly special experience on each and every drive. My previous car was a GS (both cars together in my profile pic) I absolutely loved my GS and truly miss it.

The Virage and GS are very different cars. Virage leans more towards being a proper GT car. GS is a sports car with some handy GT car attributes......like having back seats that you can actually use!
Sadly my GS has now gone.........but I still keep looking at them :)

My conclusion is that you need both cars.
