good morning, forgive me the trouble, unfortunately I have your problem, how have you solved it, thank you
With my car which was back in 2014 it was a leaking water pump which had caused the oil pump drive shaft to corrode and slip giving erratic oil pressure.
Both pumps are a combined unit.

Make sure your heatsheild is fitted. We have seen a few cases of them not and the manifolds superheat the main oil pipe and thin the oil, giving low oil pressure and sometimes the SLOW DOWN error on the dash.

Does your gauge read zero, or move quickly from one reading to another?

or in other words:

Il tuo indicatore legge zero? O passare velocemente da una pressione all'altra?

my gauge read under 1,25 bar, in traffic ed in reverse gear, in traffic and temperature water cooling over 90 c°, 0 never until now,
than push on accelerator and is ok. i changed resistor, chek rele' and fuses, no light temperature, 1 fan and 2 fan is ok
on road temperature water cooling in under 90.

That's exactly what my car did as one moment the shaft was engaging and driving the pump and the next moment not.

Ok, I would check with a manual gauge, but I would suspect the problem is with the sender. They can start reading low as they get older.

Ok, controllerei con un misuratore manuale, ma sospetto che il problema sia con il mittente. Possono iniziare a leggere in basso man mano che invecchiano.

is new! From original parts maserati, but i check to manual manometer. Grazie , to soon

I would also check the earth cable from the engine the to body. If this has a bad connection it will change the reading of the gauge.

Its the oil pressure sender internal electrical resistance that fails most times..
Other than that your heading for life changing invoice! ;)

Totally agree the pressure sender went on my first 4200 quite scary when I bought what at the time was the cheapest one in the UK.
The second one I bought expecting to put an engine in but it was the pump unit.
Very rare i know but has happened a few times.
There was a thread on here years ago about checking the water pump weep hole and making sure it wasn't blocked and getting some lube in there.
I couldn't believe how rusted away my shaft was.

I get the feeling a few of you don't believe me but I think on here back in 2011 Miles had to have a major rebuild on his engine due to this failure.
