Thought this was probably directed at me absolutely rediculous price Frank , aswell as rediculous postage costs, having been down this road several times in the last 3 years , firstly i would want to see recommendations from people who have had it done , 2nd having a hard time getting my head round the fact that in reality , kevlar friction material is actually cheaper than a new clutch so why is theirs priced so high , i can get the clutch pressure plate refurbed with kevlar by a Lamborghini specialist in Leicester for £500 .............its the risk involved of whether there will be problems , there hasn't been a successful transplant of a kevlar clutch into a Maserati to date , its been done several times but with consequences and compremises

I can remember someone who did it in the maserlife forum. He was impressed with the biting, but did replace it with OEM, due to big troubles, noises, non-engagement etc.

Thats true Nikos....was wondering if this guy had cracked all the negatives associated with the Kevlar clutch.

Claims to also resurface for ferraris - worth checking on Fchat site to see what feedback there is

It's a big mystery for me, to know that someday there will be a trouble-free kevlar clutch for the 4200. I think everyone who has the DBW is more than happy, but what if the clutch change could be harder? Is like a trivia!

As i understand things after having had several conversations with the guys in the states who have actually performed the kevlar transplant , its all down to the maserati software being slight more sympathetic on the biting procedure, all the problems arisen from Maserati kevlar transplants have proved to be judder on initial take off , which doesn't improve or dissipate with time ,

Ferrari software and more than likey Lambo software being ( predominantly sports cars ) have there clutch software built to be either engaged or disingaged with NO feathering involved , seems Maserati's were considered a more gentlemany everyday car and had a feathering built into the clutch engagement and this is what causes the problems , to my knowledge it hasn't been overcome as yet .........be great if someone has managed to re-programme the software to allow for this

Txs for the insight, with u on that

Having re read the US threads, wondering if the Pega product is a further advancement or a rehash of whats been tried. Have posted to see if it draws out any update.

Yr comments on Fezza/Lambo are pertinent and never considered that the brutal take up in those cars may suit the Kevlar
Checked Fchat for Pega reference but came up with nada

We continue the hunt

A kind of reprogramming, is the DBW. Speaking with Jeff, he told me that he could make a much more agressive mode to the DBW, but he does not recommend it, cause then clutch wear will raise. Having that in mind, i feel that Maseratis have a specific limit in biting agressiveness. As Loz says, they're more everyday cars than a Lambo or a Ferrari.

For sure one of the main considerations must be the labour cost of putting things back to normal if the kevlar transplant isnt totally succesful , i have two companies willing to do a full kevlar refurbish on an existing clutch plate FOC ( i have two in my garage ) on the proviso that they would get some business if it was successful , but the costs if not are doubled and i dont quite thinik im willing to take that hit ££££ s wise seeing as im hoping to get into a GT at some point in 2012

Quite happy to organise and offer the contacts i have if someone else is willing to take over the experiment

We never moved that on Loz....just relining the plate..........why bother with kevlar if we can reduce that cost plus double tangs seem to be lasting a long longer.....

Your right Frank , my last rough guesstimate from Belfast Brakes on religning the existing plate with the same oem material and refurbing the pressure plate was aound £50 , yes that £50 plus vat plus postage so thats maximum £125 i would say against £750 at present
