Moi aussi , when i first joined the MF forum over 3 years ago, a couple of Club members told me it was very old school and a select few of the old boys were adverse to change and regarded as fuddy duddy , so i ended up getting heavily involved in the forum, and enjoyed every minute untill the commercial side took over when it went under new ownership, I Have several good acquaintances who are club members and not like that at all , perhaps i should have found out for myself , Marios (Autoshield ) is a long time club member certainly not fuddy duddy used to be £50 for membership for a monthly magazine/newsletter and the odd invite , maybe in a few years when my typing skills have all but completely gone , and im resigned to the use of a magnifying glass will i join

To be honest Nick , enough of my free time is taken up with all things Maserati anyway , but i have found recently that most of the classic owners are old school club members , so might well join to get the inside track as to who owns what and what might be coming up forsale , as you will probably have followed that i really want to get an old classic possibly a re-creation as their called nowdays so i think you'll see my 4200 go up forsale in the next few months in preparation for a classic purchase

Yes - I was getting a feeling.

If thats the case mate, then from my flick through their newsletter etc, I would think you would get something out of it.

I'll keep you posted if I join.

how do you find it?

do you get a lot out of it - attend functions etc

I have heard it is very old school - predominantly a very much older crowd - true?

Hi GTS08, I've been a member of the MOC.UK for a couple of years now.

Have to be honest (sorry Bigfoot) that it's not lit my fire. Was hoping for the fraternity that I've since found here and over the road.

Will continue to subscribe as It goes with the territory in my book.

Cheers, Emtee.

Hi GTS,

I was a member of the Maserati Club in Japan and thought naturally of joining when I relocated here last year. I attended two events last year, though they are hard for me as I am trident-less, so not really worth showing up with a Toyota Prius to an event.

I find that there is a huge wealth of information in the Club and people are very open to share it. They have a group of guys racing some old timers and the regular meets are always very well organised.

Yes the crowd is a bit older than me (mid 30s) but that has not been an issue whatsoever. It would be nice to have one or two family-oriented events, but I think most members are empty nesters or so.

All in all, I would recommend everyone to join the Club!

thanks Big Foot.

I will take this on board.

I am in two minds but will probably join - whether I end up getting to events is another matter.

I'll keep you posted.

time to get you back in a trident!

I've been a member of Maserati Club UK since I bought the Bora, so for about 12 years now. It has been one of the better car clubs I have been a member of and I have always found other members friendly and in general whether people own a tired old Biturbo or a valuable racing Maserati they will still talk to each other.

Not done that many event due to time etc.,.. but will probably get more involved when time allows and I have had an article published in the Trident etc in the past.

Never found the age of other members to be a problem and I was a young member when I joined being under 30 at the time.

Personally I would recommend joining.

Regards,

Robin

Just stumbled on this thread, but I've been considering it too. Have had the info pack sent through from Dave Smith, and spoke to Marios about it when I was having the brakes done at Autoshield at the end of Feb - he said the members aren't all too old (my concern as well as I'm 31), and recommended it. UK events will presumably be a little more difficult for me to get to, given how most of these things tend to be organised darn sarf, but the newsletter and magazine alone seem a pretty interesting read, all for less than a fiver a month...

I joined the MOC when I first purchased my 3200 as being new to the marque I just wanted to get as involved with all things Maserati. I found some insurance companies were offering a 10% discount for being a member and I renewed the club membership this year. I enjoy reading the magazine and newsletter but haven't ventured to attend any events yet as the photos in the mag don't seem to have inspired me, I'm not the youngest guy on this forum but I was put off by what was shown in the photos, it all looked very refined and stiff. I should try something this year and take a call whether I join for another.

I have to say I get much better 'value' and useful insight from this forum.

I'll report back if I do attend anything and can add any further views

Gary, definitely worth visit to Bristol or Brooklands this year if you can , one of the reasons why they are both successful is that they are mostly guys like us , not a stiff upper lip in sight we would love to see you there even tho its too late to show , well not for Brooklands a great day out and loads to do
