I see this as a replacement because Maserati have not released a coupe style car to replace that classic Italdesign shape. It's got 4 sears, it's similar sized and will be aimed at the same segment that the 3200 was when it came out ie Porsche 911, Jaguar XKR...etc...

Maybe a concept, but the design instantly makes the current GranTourismo dated, in my opinion.
I would certainly not be willing to buy a current brand new GT having seen that, I would wait a little while if I was in the market for one brand new.

I'm not sure it does, Mike. I see it as a very different car serving a different purpose and aimed at a different market - 2+2 for one thing. I like the Alfieri but don't think it dates or shames the GT in any way at all. Just as the GTs and GS / 4200s can sit side by side without either looking the less attractive car I think the same will happen with this.

I am with Adam on this one!

The design, if it is carried through to fruition, would be stunning apart from maybe the front grille for me, if there were options for that it would be a winner in my eyes. If it finished up as a 2 seater sports, they would have to keep it under the £100K mark otherwise it would not compete with such as the "F" type..!!

Well, I've seen it in the flesh today, and it's a beauty. Much better in real life than the pictures suggest.

What would be the main issue(s) in putting that thing exactly as it looks currently into production? Apart from the interior of course.

My snaps from Geneva:

It's a lot smaller than it first appeared to be in the photos, which is all to the good. A nearby QP6 was attracting virtually no attention compared to all the other cars on the stand, and positively dwarfed it. I sat in another production Ghibli, and I still like it - the interior is something I could live with very easily. The badge on the boot proclaimed 4 wheel drive was fitted, but you wouldn't know from inside it. I'm invited to see a Q4 car available to drive in Megeve next weekend :) All I did was ask...

Considering it's the Centenary show, there was almost no mention of the 100 years. A medallion was available to purchase (at 100 euro, obviously), and books were in cases too. No big signs, nothing to shout about the company history - very odd, I thought. Many of the other companies had nice signs - Abarth were mentioning the 50 years since the first 595....

It does grow on you. I still think from back to front it morphs into a different car. A few pics appearing in the press now, usually a rear 3/4 view.
