Maserati Indy front suspension coil spring length

I am trying to find new front coil springs for my Maserati Indy 4700 from 1971. I found springs that are supposed to fit Maserati V8's of the era, however they measure 33cm or 13 inches in length while the springs coming from the car measure 27cm or 11 inches. Also the new springs have 7 coils while the one coming from the car have 6 coils. The car has not been lowered and the springs appear to be original, there are no apparent modifications to the springs or the suspension. Does anyone know if there were different sizes of springs delivered on earlier Maserati Indy's. Attached is a picture of the springs coming from the car and of the car itself, doesn't look lowered to me.

No clue, but that's a gorgeous car!

The springs in the photo, particularly the one on the left, seem to have had some rough treatment. Were they 'compressed' to remove them? If there is a suspension expert near you, you could have the spring rate checked on all of them. Providing they don't become 'coil-bound' on full bump, the 'new' springs may work OK.

I had a'71 Indy some years back - a great car...:)

If you are in the UK, contact McGrath Maserati. They will be able to help.

I got some new information. Apparently there was one particular series of Indy 4200 built using different springs. I thought I had a 4700 so I will have to look into this . My car probably has the setup with the different springs. Unfortunately there are no details know about the springs and they are not available anywhere. So probably I am going to need custom springs made or use standard sized springs. I'm just wondering if the new ones should be bit longer to compensate for the sagging of the old springs .

So...that depends on a lot of factors, including how stiff/harsh you want the ride to be. It's also not just length, but diameter.

Assume you've dug around on the interwebs. If not, https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/maserati-indy-front-coil-springs-what-length.674252/
