Mine went up by £40 last week to £325 for a GT - 50ish in a good postcode, not garaged, limited to 4k per year - I use Performance Direct as a broker, the cover probably isn't great but as it's a 2009 it's not worth so much

I used Cherished Vehicles for mine - was tempted by Footman James (especially as I am a Sporting Bear driver) but CV certainly pulled the rabbit out of the hat for me :)

I've been using Cherished for a few years now and have my three classics on a combined policy. Very nice to deal with over the phone and via email.

I am having trouble getting insurers to list the correct car. Most just have it as quattroporte sport gt or s rather than offering a sport gts.

Given the price difference between the different models I would prefer the correct model designation on the insurance certificate.

I’m with “Geoffrey”. A hilarious name for an insurance company but I had the same issue with “normal” insurers. I’m about £600 which doesn’t feel too bad

And seriously nice in person - they take part in Drive It Day April/May time with a treasure hunt from Worcester for a charity - well worth taking part if you are free

Thanks, for some reason mine was £1200 . Current is £650, and that wasn’t shopping around, just updated current provider for car that the the Maserati replaced.
I found the same with Locktons, was one of the highest and more than double, if my memory is correct.
I’ve always found Locktons to be expensive as well. I was with AIB (forum sponsor?) for a while but their last quote was pretty expensive so I’ve moved on. Also had to have the a Vodaphone tracker live which was £300 on top of the premium.
There is sometimes no logic with car insurance quotes.
Was not looking forward to the renewal quote, but a rise of only £5...can live with that!

I've been with them since Jan after admiral hiked my renewal price a fair bit.
£375 for 7k miles a year.
45 years old, in a rural post code.

There is ni rhyme or reason on insurance quotes. It goes beyond age, post code and driving/claims history.

I renewed both the Porsche and the Gransport with Locktons. Yes, the breakdown cover is duplicated, as is the cover to drive other vehicles etc. But I do not want a combined policy because I estimate little or no saving. So I take out separate annual policies.

The premium can be slightly less with Maserati Club membership. In my case, it was £40 less premium but required Club membership to access that £40 reduction. I think membership is £85 per year. So I elected not to take the Club membership insurance quote.

Are they not normal? I was dubious when they won the comparison site derby last year, but I have a certificate and everything. Mine's £700, again, not too bad.

Update as promised....(insuring a QPV 4.7)

The cheapest for me was AIB at £604 (sticky on this forum) based on 5k miles per annum.

Locktons next at around £650.

Cherished couldn't insure since it isn't deemed a classic vehicle.

The next cheapest were from comparison sites really - starting from £670 (Geoffrey) and creeping up....

Who do people use for insuring their Maserati nowadays? Are 'specialist' providers any good? I've just been quoted £1500 by Footman James which is pretty awful (I'm 40, with a clean license, 20 years n/c and have previously owned 911/Ghibli/Lotus etc).

Do people just go on comparison sites nowadays and have done with? A quick comparison showed Geoffrey Insurance at about £800....

Thanks!
Just this week bought a 2007 QP Sport GT.
I’m retired and live in rural Staffordshire with 20 years NCD.
first quote for fully comp via Moneysupermarket was just over £600. Next quote via Comparethemarket was just over £400.
obviously, I chose latter but ending up paying more than the basic with add-ons as I chose to add breakdown insurance and protect NCD.

I have just been hit with a rise in insurance for my Ghibli of 85% , £396 to £736. This is with LV, the only change is one speeding offence 80mph on the M3.

I have received several online quotes that are even more expensive than the LV quote.

It would appear that insurance companies are operating a giant cartel, which begs the question, is this "cartel" only operative in the UK, or are there similar price hikes in Europe or other parts of the world. Given the diverse geographical spread of our membership, it would be interesting to find out if this is a UK only ripoff.

Becoming more irritated by this country (UK)

I can't have insurance if I do not agree to a 5000 mile cap.

WTF

I want to scream

It's my daily for god sake

I am sure you can find insurance it will just be more expensive.

Locktons from memory were more classic focussed anyway so preferred you to not be using it as a daily driver.

Out of curiosity I got a quote for the Ghibli. 12k+ same as last year, daily driver. The usual culprits came in within a few 10s of pounds of what I've been paying for the last couple of years. <shrug>

Well, I'm getting a little bit reamed, lol. Not because I have to get insurance on the MC20 ... which actually was much lower than I expected (just under BPS 1700).
But the issue is, with the added car, I now have to make my son (in early 20's) a principal driver on one of my vehicles ... so this change adds another BPS 1000 to the insurance bill per year.
