Following a successful first-take of Maserati cognoscenti riding out in unison westward from London towards Berkshire last year, we're pleased to announce the latest iteration which is now scheduled for Sunday 7th May with a twist... we're headed East!

All Maserati models welcome. Details below, alongside some snaps I took from the previous one - if you're interested in participating please direct message me what you'd like to attend (ride-out only, or ride-out + lunch) to help us manage numbers.

- Meet at Thorndon Park Golf Club, Brentwood (Junction 28/29, M25) at 09:00 on Sunday 7th May
- Depart Golf Club at 09:45 and drive up to Fichingfield for a coffee pitstop
- Depart Finchingfield circa 11:00 for a leisurely blat through Essex countryside, returning to Brentwood for Sunday lunch 14:00 at the Nag's Head

I this still on? I don't think I can make lunch, but the rest would be fun. Mrs C appears to have given me a pass!

Fabulous to get out again with a gang and trigger many of the residents associations around rural Essex as an assortment of reprobates turned petrol into excessive noise on a Sunday morning.

A few things struck me:
1) The Ghibli exhaust pitch is a *lot* lower than the NA V8s. Which surprised me.
2) There's something odd about the valves. In sport they are meant to be open all the time, but there's two very distinct modes that seem to be found by playing with the gears and throttle. One of which is far more aurally pleasing (note spelling please @Felonious Crud )
3) Sport suspension on the Ghibli is pretty damned good if you want to be an idiot
4) When the turbos spin up, you can light up the rear wheels
5) My oil level sender works just bloody fine. After the cracks that I had the most reliable car there, after the first stop I started up to be greeted with a low oil level warning. Thought it was due to parking on a slope but refused to clear after a restart. Manual check of oil level revealed it was bang on min, so I decided that cowardice was the better part of valour and limped towards home, hoping to find a petrol station. Got a litre of Castrol's finest which cleared the light, but didn't really fancy playing catchup in case there was something else amiss.

Damned good day, issues not withstanding and thanks for organising!

I'd go a step further Chris and raise you from 'gang' of like-minded individuals to 'mob' :D It was a cracking day out with plenty of hydrocarbons combusted from many Italian cylinders; initially a little drizzly although the sun broke through in the afternoon. Some fantastic roads were enjoyed in Essex coupled with several pit stops along the way (including picturesque Finchingfield, apparently the most photographed village in the country!), with a lovely pub-garden outdoor lunch to round the day off. At one of our golf-club stops we inadvertently gate-crashed the arrival of an Asian wedding, although I'm sure they appreciated the sound of our engines adding to the proceedings as the wedding convoy's RR Phantom, alas, makes no such noise.

We had a total of 10x Maserati's in various flavours - 5x GranTurismos, 3x Quattroporte, 1x GranCabrio, and 1x Ghibli... yours is a fantastic colour @CatmanV2 . Some snaps below... keep a look out for the next iteration this Summer when we'll be headed down 'saf!
