MC Shift gearbox ECU

True, but there's no way of knowing if the old one is fine and the garage are just incompetent.

Again, true, but I feel like a half decent garage wouldn't have any problem sorting it.

Does the car not have to be present when writing to the TCU?

That would be the litmus test, but it's not as easy as a simple plug and play swap I don't think.

In any case, I've told the garage to go ahead and use the new TCU for which I will contribute half - hopefully this will be the end of it and I get my car back, but something tells me that won't be the case.
Fingers crossed.

So an update.

New ECU is on the car, the self learn gear selection is working on the diagnostic machine but not on the car. Actuator pressure unable to be read.

Still trying to get to the bottom of it then...

Any update as I am finding myself down a very similar rabbit hole, albeit at least the garage is amongst the best and have SD/3, but they are also stumped for now...

Sorry only just seen this now, but still no resolution. Last update was from a couple of weeks ago where the garage said they weren't getting pressure from the gearbox pump or it was showing very low pressure. Possible actuator issue as well.

I have lost complete faith in them but just have to sit tight I suppose. I don't understand how all these issues have come about when the car was driveable before but couldn't find reverse.

do you have any idea how they programmed the new ecu .
Ecu arrive with nothing on them , so it’s possible that it’s not programmed and that’s why it only works with Diagnostics.

I have no idea, I don't think the ECU was the issue as a new one didn't solve the problem.

I reckon the actuator might be the culprit, and it's something I mentioned to the garage when it first went in 8 months ago!

I just purchased a 2009 GTS with the MC Shift form auction. Upon arrival we found out why the car wasn’t starting and stuck in gear. It was missing the TCU! I have been looking for a tcu for this car and since I am in the states, it’s even harder to find one for the MC since only 300 made it here. Would you be willing to sell me your TCU?

Think I have his old TCU here

I completely forgot about this!

I had my first child in May and everything else in my life has been put on hold. Will arrange for its return soon.

The garage (SupercarItalia) that took my car in for a clutch change at the start of October 2022, STILL have my car and have seemingly given up on trying to fix it. I think it's safe to name and shame after nearly 10 months of my car being there!

Good Grief I really can't believe what I've been reading.
I'm sure your wife's childbirth was an easier process and congratulations.

Apparently it's a fault with the reverse switch or something, the engine is running but gearbox is bypassed.

This will be the last attempt I'll allow them, I've completely let it slide due to the aforementioned kid and me having a few other cars but it's time I got it back now, so if it's still not running I'm getting it trailered to Southampton!

Christ knows what else might need doing after sitting on a lift for 9 months...

Don't know how they stay in business working like that absolute shambles.
It's usually the customer causing the workshop issues not telling the full story authorising work and having no funds etc.

Unlikely to be just a switch, trailer it to Southampton and you may drive it home !!
