I was competing in Formula Ford at Phillip Island the previous weekend. Saw quite a bit of this car, recently acquired by Paddins Dowling,an Irish expat. currently Snr. V.P. at Cantor Fitzgerald in Frisco. It runs on methanol & Castrol R equivalent,it's worth it to stand next to it while he's warming the engine for the superb smell of burnt Castrol R.
The car happens to be the only car still retaining the original numbered body panels and all the rest looks extremely authentico,a lovely car. He was circulating just above 2 min. a lap which is quite good for such an old car. This car is NOT the car which competed at Albert Park in '53
Was pit-crewing at the GP. This event is right up there with the best as the organisation is just perfect. Didn't have a spectacularly good weekend, however got a good,trouble-free session on track Saturday, bit of work to do on the car back in the shed before the next event.
