We are taking a trip to Venice in a few weeks and we are going to catch the Venice to Modena train to visit a few places. I am going to try and book into the Maserati factory, the Panini Collection and the Museo Enzo Ferrari in Modena but there is also a Ferrari option in Maranello. There is also a bus that tours the Ferrari factory and track tour. We will leave Venice at 07.30am for a 2hr train journey and arrive in Modena for 10am. Does anyone have any recommendations for what to do and what can be missed please? Hubby loves Maserati (owns the 4200 and GT) but he is very keen on most classic cars. Any opinions what to definitely do and what can be missed please? Big thanks for any help :)

I've never booked the Panini museum, just pitched up and had a look around. Bring back some parmigiano and balsamic vinegar.
Lambourghini are at Sant'agata just outside Modena, that's worth a look.
Although you need to allow a few days to visit all to have a real good look around all the cars factories. Modena itself is a beautiful place and a night out there is a treat in itself. Especially the main square, some nice restaurants and bars there.

Hi Trudy, I’m sure there will be lots of advice forthcoming. When we did the centenary run SD own to Modena we did visit he Ferrari museum too. How is the 4200 going?

Bear in mind the Pannini collection is quite a long way out of the city - half an hour maybe.

Took the words out of my mouth. If you are there for a day and not in a car you are probably best to go to the Maserati factory and the Casa Di Enzo as they are both nearby and will take about half a day each. I personally think the Casa Di Enzo is better than the Maranello museum. The Pagani tour is also excellent but a bit further out of town and Panini is in the middle of nowhere comparatively but some really nice cars to look at.

I believe the Cavallino restaurant opposite the Ferrari factory gates has closed because of COVID. Which, if true, is a shame. That was always a must for lunch on any factory visit.

I think the Cavallino restaurant has closed full stop....

Agree with all the comments - would add that the Pagani factory tour is a good option - there are plenty of operators that will package up a day and shuttle you around and some include lunch at the Montana restaurant in Fiorano - whatever you organise - he is gonna have a great time!

Hi Newton, how are you? The 4200 is still in the barn, not been out this year as he didn't bother taxing any of the cars this year :)
He bought a GT and an E Type to keep the 4200 company, I give up! :)

Midlifecrisis, I may look at the Lambos as it seems Panini is too far out and we have no transport, thanks
Hoodickery, thanks for that, probably give that one a miss
Zep, I have Casa Di Enzo ready to book, thanks for your thoughts about Maranello. Their websites say the Mas and Fez tour are approx. 90 mins?
Saphrane, hope you are well? Thanks, I have written to Maserati and waiting for them to get back to me.
Ewan, I will look out for Cavallino, thanks
Devonboy, trying to keep costs down and already booked 2 lots of flights and two lots of hotels so will probs stick just to Modena and the train but thanks :)
We are arriving at 10am and happy to leave on the last train (the tours say they are approx. 90 mins each) so any other recommendations for cars, it will make his year :)

They are, but you will end up having a look around the showroom and doing photo ops before and after. The Maserati showroom before the tour also as a shop for those essential baseball caps and key rings and seeing as which country you are in it probably won’t start bang on time (well it didn’t for us!).

When we did the SM factory visit to Via Ciro Menotti I booked it direct with Maserati, for Pagani it was through https://www.modenatur.it/en/ who may well be a good resource for you.

Are they making anything at the factory at the moment? They’ve stopped the Granturismo and the 4C which were the only things being produced there - aren’t they retooling for the MC20? If so I don’t know what they will be able to show.

PR and Doohickey,
I received a reply, the Maz factory are not taking tours at the moment and have suggested that it may not be worth while travelling from Venice to Modena just to visit their showroom. I will have a think but will possibly still go to Modena for the Maz showroom and Museo de Enzo Ferrari. (Its a surprise for hubbys birthday so I cant even talk it through with him)

Don't suppose they mentioned when they will be doing tours again? I am planning a trip for June 2021

Although I had the flights and hotel booked, didn’t get to Venice in the end. I have shelved all plans and hope to go in the next few years as Croatia and Iceland are next years plans but as always, thanks for your help. Husband still doesn’t know he was going so I will keep the Itinerary to myself a little longer.

Oh well Trudy, it says it all about this year. Keep your powder dry, I'm sure you can reschedule for next year when things improve.

Iceland is on the bucket list,

Croatia is fantastic and the scenery stunning...we got married on one of the islands off Split (Hvar) a couple of years ago.
