My book on the 916 Alfa Romeo GTV and Spider - on sale in September

I know there are a few fellow ex-GTV owners on the forum, and so here comes a shameless plug for my new book Alfa Romeo GTV and Spider - the complete story

Its my first book, but I'm sure it won't be my last - I'm delighted to be in discussion with Crowood about writing another one with them. Next time it will be Ferrari or Maserati (...you are best writing what you know I feel!).

Anyway, after a very long process (I wrote it in fits and starts over about 5 years!), I'm really excited to have this one under my belt, and hopefully in shops for 4th September. I just hope I've done the cars justice...

You can see a little more info about the book on Crowood's own website, and if anyone did decide to buy a copy they will be selling it for £5 less than cover price via their website once it comes available.

It will be on my list for Xmas if anyone wants to buy it for me!

Can you tell me Robert, is there much information about the design, development and build at the factory, pics or production etc, that always interests me.

Looks very interesting. Congrats on the book.

Have at times dabbled with the prospect of picking up a GTV.

So much car for such little money these days.

And that Busso V6 has to go down as one of the best, most characterful six-cylinders ever built.

Many thanks guys.

I would have liked to have included more pictures from design / pre-production but while Alfa Romeo were happy to permit use of their press photos, they weren't able to offer much additional material beyond that. Nevertheless, I done my best to make the book as comprehensive as I could make it, and I am particularly pleased with production tables compiled from Alfa Romeo's own data, which to my knowledge has not been published before. I also have an appendix of GTV Cup chassis numbers, split between the 2.0 and 3.0 variants, which again I don't think has been published before. The thing I've learned about writing an auto book is that you could always spot ways to make it better - so I suspect no author is ever fully satisfied with the published work, but at some point you have to draw a line or you'd never publish anything!

I've just received an advance copy today actually and even if I view it from a very biased perspective it does look good to me. 240 pictures - all colour and the majority not published anywhere before. I'm very pleased overall, and hope as I said before that I've done justice to the model.

Will be on my list too. Had a 3.0 GTV in black with red leather. ( No wing as I thought looked much nicer without.)

Many thanks chaps appreciate all your support! I believe Classic and Sportcar are reviewing it next month, and I'm surprised to find I'm quite nervous - really hope they like it!
