bloody nora, dont understand why all the drivers floored it when the safety car was still out.

The straight has a pronounced 'hump'. Those at the back of the grid saw the lights on the gantry go out and, without being able to see that the safety car was still out on track, floored it.
What is interesting is the the safety car's lights were out as it approached the start line, but it didn't peel off. So, I assume that the safety car driver had been told to pull into pit lane and then something happened in his head!!!
