Hi There
Just Bought a 2008 QP GTS 4.2l and am getting used to the controls and features,

i have a few questions that hopefully can be answered

1. on the key fob there is a boot or trunk release button, on mine it doesnt seem to do anything, i have gone into the settings and ticked independent trunk release on the central locking menu but seems to make no difference
2. the boot release button on the dash just cycles the lock right? the boot doesnt open on mine either when pressed just a whiring sound from the boot, is it supposed to spring open? o do you still have to open via the under lip rubber button?
3. i have the under steering column CD changer, i see some guys have forgone this in place of a wired in ipod/iphone connection
has anybody managed to wire in an ipod which works with the steering wheel buttons via a conversion module, such as dension, loudlink or xcarlink AND been able to retain the CD changer via a switch? seems that i can get a switched cable but not also the controls working or the controls working but forgo the changer?
4. i dont have a phone hand set in the arm rest and the button for telephone says phone unavailable, if i insert a sim in the slot will this come to life or do i have to have the handset installed for this option to be active? dont want to buy a sim just to find it wont work anyway
thanks in advance
Tim

Must be a record ,6 hours without someone offering some helpful advice!
1:The fob is notoriously slow, you just have to keep your finger pressed down on the fob for longer than normal.
2: Yes correct, it just flips the lock, doesn't spring it open.
3/4 no idea I'm afraid but I'm sure someone will be along soon!

Hi Tim,

Welcome to Maserati world - I am a newbie too - QP V

1 and 2 same issue as you apparently its a feature
3 and 4 - I have the under steering multi CD changer and a phone hand set but never used it as luckily my car has a parrot fitted - This takes care of my iphone
for hands free and I presume can play music too (not tried it yet)

Post up some pics in your profile

The boot lids on QPs only ever just lift up slightly when released (either on the dash or on your remote). When this stops happening, it means the striker on the boot lid needs to be re-adjusted to keep a slight upward tension when the boot is closed. This can be adjusted by the dealer. However, over time the striker will need re-adjusting again - especially if you or passengers use a heavy hand when shutting the boot (not necessary as the there is an auto-close function - so a gentle drop of the boot lid will do).

Here's how one owner on another forum fixed the problem... he added a simple felt pad used to prevent furniture from scratching wood floors, applied to the boot lid...

Also the SIM will not work unless you have a Maserati phone fitted. You are better off installing a bluetooth solution such as a Parrot system (if you are looking to spend minimum).

This boot lid thing - is it the same with the GT? Mine only releases, but never pops up - is it meant to? Is it 'Italian character'? Or is it just a bit worn and needs something taking off my furniture to correct it? Answers on a postcard...

Tim, did ou buy the silver car with the dark wheels and black interior...Its gone off Pistonheads....If you did I soooo wanted that car. It also seems a good buy at 26k......There was another silver car with lower miles at a Ferrari specialist for aroun 28k....Then there was a black one up for over 30k.....All these have now sold by the look of things.

The part shown in the photo is just a spring loaded plunger. When you press the boot release this opens pushing the lid up slightly. If the spring weakens or the part breaks the boot release opens but as the lid does not lift it immediately relocks. It is simple to replace. On the QP the plunger is located close to the lock whilst on the GTS it appears to be located over to the left of the lid. I think part number 81805000 for the QP and 80150500 for the GTS. QP one is around £14 and the GTS is around £2.

The GT boot lid is pretty heavy and I don't believe it's designed to pop up. All that the botton on the dash and the key fob seem to do is release it.

Oddly enough, when the car is locked if I unlock the boot with the key fob and then open it the alarm goes off. So it disengages the latch but doesn't turn off the alarm. Which I like to think of as endearing Italian character. As the release button actually serves no real purpose it doesn't make much difference.

Mine turns off the alarm when you just open the boot.

If you look at the boot struts you can see that there is no mechanism on them to fully open the boot.

I just wish the boot was bigger.

Hi Andyk
no mine was bought at ADG Sevenoaks, i looked at both the cars you mentioned though and both were nice but this one is dark silver/grey with grey alloys and a cream/beige and black leather interior, i have put a couple of the dealers pics on my profile
this car was more money but the clincher was a brand new engine 200 miles before i bought it under the Maserati extended warranty! and it is immaculate throughout
best guess is that the first engine had become rattly and they just replaced rather than rebuilt

thanks to all the rest of you for the advice about the boot, and Phone
will try the felt pad solution today, mine also sets the alarm off if the boot is unlocked and opened independently but it doesnt open at all by itself and still have to press the release under the lip to open
was expecting it to be like a Bentley GT where the boot release pops the lock and gracefully swings open as you approach the car and press the button, nevermind

phone is not an issue just liked the idea of saying "or you can call me in my Maserati" and giving a new number, very silly and not needed as it has a phone only parrot installed anyway

Ipod am still investigating, using an itrip fm transmitter which is ok but sound quality is poor, and relearning the art of a 15 track burned mix cd or 5 in the stacker
impressed with the sound quality of the Bose system which is far better than the Bose system in my old Porsche 996
cheers
Tim

Can't remember where it was though. The heading was something like 'Independent Boot Opening'.

I'll have a look BB, thanks. Chances are the description bears scant resemblance to the function.

Yes makes no mention of alarm functions. Mind I've not a had a car in over a decade that beeps when you set/unset the alarm.
