I'd refuse to buy any telly that turns straight on without the valves warming through first. Witchcraft!
My point exactly….
I'd refuse to buy any telly that turns straight on without the valves warming through first. Witchcraft!
And when you turn it off, it leaves a white dot in the centre before disappearing...!I'd refuse to buy any telly that turns straight on without the valves warming through first. Witchcraft!
Sofas can move forward and save you money...Check the distance between the viewer and the screen as your eyes will not pick up much above 4k unless your nose it touching it.
Our sofa is c14ft from the screen hence the 75" jobby here... and totally get why a soundboard is a poor choice hence 5.1 here too, great for a thriller when you hear the foot steps coming from behind you.
I suppose I need to go somewhere and have a look with my eyes and ears. Was hoping to avoid the separate soundbar, but that looks unavoidable.
I have an LG with 4K and I am so glad I got 4K its well worth it. I have linked the optical output from the TV to my old Panasonic Dolby surround amplifier and it sounds excellent. Not a fan of sound bars as I don't think the surround effect really works.
I am constantly surprised at how much of current TV is available in 4K, most of you tube, all BBC i-player, I have netflix with 4K and most of amazon prime is 4k. And the picture quality is truly epic. If you have not had a look at 4k TV you really should.
Echo's of the audiophile rabbit hole....Just because the picture is epic doesn't mean the content is any good! I remember buying audiophile recordings. Oh so beautifully recorded but I just didn't like the medieval madrigals I was now listening to! Nothing beats a good tune or a decent story.

Agree. I’m still running my 60”and 50” Pioneer Kruro from 2009. Had them professionally setup. For me still the best picture by far. It was called the ‘directors tv’ I think. You think the picture quality is epic until you watch a 4k Blu-ray , they you realise how compressed the 4k streams are , there are plenty of 4k HDR videos on YouTube that show off the full capability of a 4k HDR TV
I've got a 65" LG Oled TV , had it about 3 years now , not all 4k screens are the same , there's a reason why some of them are £500 and some £2000 , it's all about the blacks.

Agreed, plus curved and 3D gizmos are just gimmicks that you spend extra for, that have no real benefit. Plus the in-built apps no longer work as theyt upgrade too.Echo's of the audiophile rabbit hole....Just because the picture is epic doesn't mean the content is any good!
