Hello and a Merry Christmas to one and all!
After wanting one for many years, I finally took the plunge and bought my first Maserati in January of this year - a 2004 MY 4200 CC Coupe in Verde Mistral. It's not my daily driver and given the travel limitations this year, I somehow managed to cover a total of 2000 miles in her and have enjoyed every minute - they truly are a lot of fun!
Having found and joined this forum in March I have spent time viewing the technical threads and found it a great source of information which has helped me rectify a number of faults and carry out some upgrades. So far I have replaced the oil pressure sender ( wouldn't have known it was broke if I hadn't read the info), coolant radiator and fitted an x-pipe with modified rear silencers. Being fairly hands on and also wanting to learn more about the car, I also decided to carry out my own servicing and mainentence and again the forum has been an invaluable source of information and have also had many LOL moments reading all the hilarious banter!
Although I have made progress with several things on the car, there has been an intermittent suspension warning light that has been a pain since buying the car and wonder whether the members here could offer some advice. The car has Skyhook and the red waring light with a car and down arrow running through it is on most of the time now. I read on here somewhere that the Launch x431 Pro V3 could read fault codes and booked it in with my local garage who had one but sadly this wasn't able to reveal the fault. So I booked a full diagnostic with the Maserati/ Ferrari MD in Exeter and the results were identified as a Lateral Acceleration Sensor C1041 Maximum Threshold Exeeded. The part number provided for the new sensor was M000232687.
I have found what I believe to be the offending sensor located behind the Air Box attached to the chassis leg which had P/N 175221 (Photo attached) and think I am right in saying this has been superceded by P/N 232687. If someone could confirm this is correct that'd be great? I have since fitted a (supposedly good) used sensor another 175221 but the waring light remains on. Could someone tell me please whether there are any other Lateral Acceleration Sensors on a 4200 Coupe other than the one behind the airbox that may be causing the fault or whether I have to have the light reset with yet another trip to the Main Dealers?
Best
Tony
