Hi,
I have posted on here in some of the other sections (thank you for all the helpful replies) But I thought I better introduce myself in this bit.

I have recently bought a 1994 2.8 Non ABS Ghibli (in need of a little lovin!)

From some of the posts I've received, I guess some of your members are aware of the car (& kept well clear!!), it was advertised on fleebay & I headed off to the South of France to collect her.

The deal was done in a French service station....Dodgy I know.

I handed over the cash and jumped in a traveled over 600 miles in it, luckily with out a single glitch (well except it trying to kill me in the wet)

My name is Adam & I live in sleepy somerset, I know very little about Maseraties or mechanics in general so I'm sure I will be a regular pain in the Botty (my dad's had a few newer ones but you don't have to get your hands dirty with those)

A Pick before I start to tinker.

Bienvenue again Adam....still a 600 mile test drive takes some bottle. Yes, in the wet, coldish tyres, too many horses can lead to soiled pants moments, but you made it back. ...:)

Plenty on here to help out, or the true expert on this era, whose a forum sponsor is Marios at Autoshield

I thought the drive would be an adventure, a bit disappointed not to be stuck in the middle of France, it would have been a better story.

I can assure you not, collected a Range Rover in Truro 2 weeks ago.....by the time I got home done 760 miles.........a tad apprehensive for most of those miles, even with breakdown cover!

Hi Adam, welcome and well done on repatriating that car. Well done, too, on having the cojones to buy a car in a French service station and drive it 600 miles home again. Good man!

Nice car, good drive/shakedown. I was the same, 570 mile drive home, thought if it's going to show any faults then they will crop up on the drive home. Totally trouble free. :)

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I am based in Taunton, in somerset, any meet up will have to be next year unless I attend in another form of transport.

Re the long test drive, the jury's out if it was brave or just plain stupid! He who dares and all that!

Looking forward to what Maserati ownership may throw up.

Thanks again guys

I did the Thornfalcon show near Taunton this summer took the Ferrari to find when I get there not one Maserati so we will have to make a presence in 2014.

I know it well, hopefully the old girl will be ready by then.

Welcome, I know someone who was interested in this Ghibli but didn't have the balls to pop over to France to do the deal, that or he didn't have the balls to tell his Mrs he had bought a Maserati to go with his already long list of lost cause toys.
