Hi all, bought a 4200 CC mistral green 2004 a few months ago, got to say cant stop driving it. Got loads of tips from this forum, so a massive thanks to all who has contributed. Saved a few pennies on the rear discs from the alternative parts list. The sound of that engine is.........gorgeous :) .Previously had the E46 M3 and I honestly didn't think i'd find another car to touch it. Got to admit, this is amazing. I think the handling is pretty good in comparison, although my M had been lowered by the previous owner. I drive constantly in sport mode, just for the quicker gear change. Averaging 12mpg at the moment, but trying different techniques to raise it, without joy. Done the oil change, used Shell Helix ultra racing 10w60 along with some shell nitro+ fuel. Only a couple of niggles at the moment, creak from the rear suspension and the drivers window is a pain in the a*se when closing on auto. Apart from that top motor with plenty of compliments. Could do with finding a long tunnel to amplify the V8 :)

Nice one Parky. Welcome

Creaking rear suspension: Good suspect is the tie rod rose joint.

Welcome, Parky. I love that colour combination. Not seen it before - really bloody gorgeous. Glad you're enjoying the beastie and hope to see it in the flesh soon.

Have a look on here for the Bruntingthorpe event in August, by the way.

Thanks for the welcome guys. Would love to come to some events, I'll keep my eyes peeled for some. I'll give the tie rod joint a check out too. Would that be a replacement or just some lubrication?.........Thanks again, Dan

Welcome Parky, an unusual colour but very subtle and refined. You are obviously getting stuck into the oily bits, looks like the handbrake wants some adjusting, there is a thread or two on here particularly to settling the shoes on the road!

Well done & hope to meet one day.

As per the other thread and a very big welcome to the forum.....Two great cars you have owned there. Thanks for sharing the pictures she looks lovely. Must say that my M3 is slightly lowered and the 4200's I've driven def felt woolly compared to it but then they are very different cars....4200 more of a gentlemans long distance cruiser than sports car...Both brilliant cars though and the noise of the 4200 is to die for.

Thanks for the welcome, I would never have chosen this colour combo, but it was the nearest car available and you're right it is very subtle, i think i can get away with a few cheeky moves without winding other drivers up :) the handbrake's been sorted when i did the rear discs, well spotted though :)

Andy, spot on. The masser did feel wooly, but i've got used to it. The difference between them is i dont have to ring the massers neck like i did with the M, and i can cruise with that beautiful noise. Cant think of another car that would give this all round appeal, apart from a new masser of course. I went to a showroom the other day and one of the salesman cranked up a black GranTurismo Stradale, going through the different modes. Race mode was almost orgasmic, infact it was orgasmic, that is my next car once i've sold the 3 kids, wife, 2 labs and 2 cats, i'll keep the house and drive :)

With you on that, Parky. The 4-seat Strad is for me the ultimate evolution (for now at at least!). Thankfully it's far too expensive to even contemplate. I'm having to learn to stay away from show-rooms in case I weaken and accidentally trade my house, wife, kids and sanity for one. All of which is quite tempting when you hear that noise.

Hey Parky
Lovely looking motor. Unusual colour combination which looks lovely to me.
Nice to have another NW based member on board.
Keep an eye out on the events section as we are trying to arrange a weeknight or Sunday morning blast around North Wales and the Evo triangle !

Cheers James, it is unusual but subtle. I'll definitely keep my eyes out for a good blast. I bet that is a sight, half a dozen or so massers rattling round the hills. Woohoo :)

Welcome. I see that your 4200 came with the standard issue **** star handbrake position...........
