+1 for what Zagotoes says.

Depreciation is the biggest cost of car ownership. Older QPs are depreciating gently now.

There is no way you can ever, even with the best man-maths in the world, justify a QP as an economical car but by way of a personal anecdote I've had mine for eighteen months now and nothing has gone wrong with it and service costs are reasonable at an indie.

I would endorse all the above comments on getting an inspection. Buy wisely because what may appear to have a cheap sticker price might need a service, VED, new tyres and perhaps a clutch; they can add up very quickly. A dearer one with everything in good condition will give you at least a year's cost free motoring - apart from copious amounts of petrol of course.

I rather homed in on the QP as thats what took my fancy initially, but am wondering should I consider other models?
I'm budgeting £5k for the first year, and then will see how things go. Please don't mention petrol anywhere near my missus, mind you I could try telling her it does 40mpg.

Unless it's a daily drive, petrol is an afterthought, reliability, comfort and thrill of the drive are not, go for it..!!
