Barga! The story goes that villagers sailing off for a better life in the USA mistakenly disembarked in Glasgow and there they stayed - fish & chips, ice cream, cafes (lawyers) started and remain today. We have been to Barga a few times - ordering in broken Italian and getting broad Glaswegian from returners and the local pesce etc - better in the UK. Stayed with Scottish Gran in a house with a relief of Il Duce carved in the gate post - she was not amused. In that report A resident from Bologna said, "It's like me going to England and making fish and chips, it doesn't make sense."
