So the QP performed superbly on the trip from Geneva to Shiltech near Nottingham. Stats are quite impressive as per the attachments. 665miles and 21.1mpg (ok fuel computer may be a bit generous but even if its 1-2mpg out its impressive. Average speed was adversely affected in the UK (see below) but
in France I kept mostly at 130kmh (about 85mph) using the cruise.

She didn't miss a beat and despite over 12hrs in the saddle (including Chunnel crossing) I was quite fresh at the end of the day. Journey was up over the Jura mountains at St. Cergue then up to Dijon, Rheims, Arras, Calais to Eurotunnel terminal. Superb roads.

One thing that hit me immediately upon arrival in the UK was the state of the motorways. I know the winter has been hard and the traffic is much greater than in rural France but I was shocked at the state of the M20, M25 and M1. They are unsafe with such big potholes in the carriage way. Also having done 550miles without encountering an incidents or traffic delay, I got caught up in traffic caused by a prang between jct 2 and 3 on the 25. Looked to be overzealous Highways Agency types in hi-viz vests closing a lane despite a slight bump between a car and van. Didn't look serious enough to warrant lane closures at 830pm. Likewise on the M1 at 945pm just around 15A 3 lanes down to 1 for overnight roadworks. Took about 40mins to go through that - not what you want after such a long journey.

Car is with Shiltech until Wednesday morning.....enjoying a little SEAT Leon for now. I'll update on the work done later in the week.

Yes the M25 from the channel tunnel to junction 8 is the most shocking bit of road to come back to when you've been use to the smooth European roads. I just wanted it to end, the vibration just stayed there no matter what speed. Aaaahhhhhh

Hi Parisien,

I love the UK so don't misunderstand that I was dissing the old country. I wasn't!

Switzerland is a great place...clean, orderly, respectful, law abiding. And you can ski, cycle and do sports all year round. Cheapest fuel in Europe bar Luxembourg. But a few frustrations:

- cant clean the car outside your house or use snow foam
- shops close at 7pm and are closed on Sunday
- soooooooo expensive
- poor road infrastructure

Other than that its wonderful.

Cheers

When you say can't clean your car outside your house, do you mean on the road outside your house? Surely you can do what you like on your own land/driveway?
Again regarding snow foam, okay on your own land/driveway?

Absolutely 100%. No use of mechanical equipment outside between 1230 to 1330 and strictly not on Sunday!
