Nitrogen filled tyres

Anyone had any experiance of this, just changed two tyres on my wifes Audi and qwik fit now suggest nitrogen at an additional cost of £1. Apparently as it does not contain water the trye pressure remains consistent no need to check trye pressure every few weeks.

......unless you have a slow puncture! The tyres on my work transport are nitrogen filled; they work as advertised and you can't tell the difference. I am sure there would be an advantage under race conditions but not so sure for normal road use.

Not just the water that you get in compressed air, it's a larger gas molecule so it doesn't leak quite as much as regular air. I think it's probably a good thing, for £4 all round I'd probably have it done. But the problem with KwikFut is they tend to think everyone needs 40psi all round! Wouldn't actually trust them to pump up my tyres...

...good point....they need their equipment calibrated regularly...................otherwise a complete guessing game!
