Shown as 'coming soon' on the FD website. From the post it looks like they've 'jail-broken' the code assignation, which will be very helpful, but seems to suggest no two-way communication, so you can listen, but you can't tell.

I'm surmising P as there's only that post to go on, but I think the move forward is to link proprietary data code to a function (so beyond the ODBII generics) so they've cracked that. Once cracked it can be noted and cleared (possibly?) but it stops short of having the engine do what you want it to do - ie change kiss point.

I can't remember his name, but it was this that someone over on MF was doing a couple of years back, assigning the top secret proprietary code to the relevant function.

Marcel's post on MF included a response from someone to say the FD had been marketing an OBD2 for the 4200 for a while. No details were given regarding proprietary codes so I think everyone assumed it was a generic reader. If indeed the Ferrari/Maserati codes have been broken it will make all our lives a lot easier/cheaper!!

Gentleman,

We simply preloaded a quality OBDII tool with many of the Ferrari / Maserati specific codes in addition to the standard codes. It's a helpful tool, however we've sold out our first production and likely the price will need to increase a bit over the pricing we extended.

Performance Italia has asked that we look into supplying them with the units in the UK. Hopefully, they will be able to update you all once we have the next run built.

Best Regards,

Hi Jeff, thanks for responding so quickly. Hopefully Noor at PI will keep us updated. When you say 'many' do you have any further information of what you've included? Regards, Miles.

Interesting development guys........so its a half way house between standard generic scanner and the full SD2.......am just wondering how far it actually goes and capabilities.

Well, for the price, its worth paying the extra and just bunging one in the glove box, if it saves you once, its worth the little money FD are asking for it.

Hi Gents, I have a couple of further emails from Jeff at home (I'm at work at the moment). From quickly scanning through them this morning I wouldn't hold you breath for anything this side of Christmas, as I think they have other developments in the works that are taking precedent.

Last time around they all sold out before Jeff could even update his website, and I think he realised he under costed them, so I think the price will be higher next time around, and that'll be before shipping and any import duty. Noor has asked to have these for the UK market, so I think Jeff will oblige in the new year.

Getting one to evaluate is a good idea and I may be able to do something about that.

Ultimately I think it'll be the right side of a hundred notes, but don't expect much change, so it'll come down to the usefullness of the Maserati code over the ODBII generics.

Very interested in the outcome , surely once tranlated , a scan tool is not to far away from taking it a stage further so that its possible to link up with the lappy and programming kiss and pis points /F1 sensor can be altered and reset

, now that would be the coo of all coo's

regards loz
