A total loss payout should provide you with sufficient to replace the car with some of equivalent spec, age, history, condition etc. If you only bought it a month ago, I'd say you have a good case for it still being worth what you paid for it.

Should know tomorrow as the insurance companie's motor engineer is visiting the garage. What do people think is a fair price to be offered?

2004(face lift) 66k fsh, receipts since 2008 totaling 15k
New Clutch 3k ago
Black with blk interior
Larinis

Paid 15.5k last month

I was hoping to get as close as possible to it

£15k sounds fair, try an push it another grand if you can.

Oh, make sure you get those Larinis off if it gets a total loss.

Some of the stuff is broken but there's a fair bit which could be used again. Headlight seemed ok, sure you could of un bent the grill...

Chances are the plastic brackets on the headlight are broken off , in certain circumstances they can be re glued back on with the special 2 pack glue , the parts will not have been ordered , thats just a summary of what is suspected will be required , i concurr with all except the cross member , that shouldn't have been affected looking at the localised damage , once thye assessor has seen it today and only after his report has been made will the decision to repair/write off be made

if you could be present when the assessor does his report that would be advantageous to you , in regards finacially writing it off wiothout a catergory being applied , which in turn would be advantageous in you purchasing back off the insurance co

The best way to re bond snapped headlight brackets is to bond them and then wrap in fibreglass, it works really well.

If it is out of sight you can drill either side and cable tie before bonding that way there is real strength that will last...

This is what the garage said yesterday
*
"The engineer has been out and inspected, he has verbally agreed, I have ordered the required parts.
*
I’m waiting for the confirmed written authorisation to arrive which I hope to have tomorrow
*
Repairs will take around 12 working days.
*
I will keep you updated with the progress"
*
And this is what the insurance company said:

"I have just received the report from our engineers and it has been sent to our head office to authorise, we should hopefully hear back from them today. I will let you know when I hear back from them.

I guess by ordering the parts it will save time and if they do not get authorization they have not lost out. Should get the 'official' answer today.

Excellent Brendan......happy with the decision?!

P

I am as at the end of the day the damage is fairly superficial and the prospect of looking for another car isn't such a good one. I will just have to wait another 2 weeks for the car to be repaired
