What I love about it (as well as it being an iconic car) is that it's a formula one car you can probably start and run without a tech crew and five laptops. And the noise must be amazing.

I had the good fortune to watch Senna race in Portugal in 1990 (I think)
He lost (2nd I think) and Mansell won in a Ferrari after the race was shortened due to an accident.
He (Senna) waved to my young son on our respective way home, which made our day
The best driver imho ever, he had faults, yes, because he is human

I was at the Coys Historic back in 2000 & the Ex Senna Toleman was in the Auction, I can remember writing in the margin £200,000 Not Sold......

at the same auction a nice 246 GT Dino sold for £27,500 WP_20150424_22_34_56_Pro.jpgWP_20150424_22_33_12_Pro.jpg

"The plane will be on public display on 4th-9th July just outside the Cabinet War Rooms, ahead of the sale on the 9th July at Christies."

What a story! I may have to pop along and see it.

They look cheap in relative terms...but keeping it airworthy is another matter. If you use the engine at full boost it cost £500 a time just for the oil. Engine rebuild to after just 500 hours, or 50 if used on bost... If I recall correctly there was a article on the running costs not so long ago aprox £3/5k per hour...pheww
