This is not a useful post, more of a cathartic rant.
On Friday night I took my beloved Maser out for a spin. About 1 km from home I noticed the temp higher than usual which was followed by stem billowing from my engine bay. Oh dear. I pulled over and shut her down to investigate. I had a ruptured hose at the rear of the engine, just below the cylinder head. I let her cool and limped her home.
On closer inspection the hose seemed relatively easy to access so I thought I'd have a go at replacing it myself. Both ends of the hose had one time clamps fitted, mas do a lot of the hoses in our engine bays. I cannot begin to tell you what a biatch these things are to get off. My wrists hurt and what should have been a simple 1 hour job has now turned in to a weekend saga. I'm pleased to say I now have the hose off and will be replacing with screw hose clamps.
Feck* you Maserati and your devil spawn One Time Hose Clamps! Here endeth my rant.
