I reckon it's a lover tiff. Someone has upset someone else and this is payback, 2 x 5L tins of Dulux thrown inside the car, owner comes back and makes up swerved for deer story. Insurance companies will believe anything!

To add to the BS story argument, tins of paint have clips put on them to avoid accidental spillage like this. The man's been caught by an angry wife/girlfriend and h3ll have no fury like a woman scorned. (according to the Stone Roses)
