Parking Wars - are Maserati's just too big ?

I left my car in the office car park the other night. Our car park is small and a private space is highly protected. See the attached email sent to colleague:

Just so as you know, Ian Bloxham has left his huge Maserati in my space this morning. Because of its size sand the fact it's not even properly in its space it's simply too dangerous for me to try and get my car into his allocated space 27. I've tried but I'm going to damage either my car on the gates or reverse into the side of his. So, I've put mine in 25 and informed Elisa of the problem. This will inconveneince John Sydenham when he gets in. I suspect Ian's actually been away overnight and not told anyone.

Ian's car is unreasonably large by any standard. It simply does not fit properly into any of the spaces. As I often get put next to his I often have to either get in through the passenger door or do some kind of limbo to get into my car. Would it completely unreasonable to see if he's got access to a slightly smaller car for the purposes of our car park? Fair's fair and it's a free world but I do think the sheer size of this one is pushing it a bit.

Hilarious. I have pointed out that my 'smaller' car is a Lexus 4x4....

He drives a Saab convertible by the way...

If he's driving a rag top surely he can drop the roof and climb out?!! Sounds like somebody is rather envious of your beautiful car!

Is this guy the office creep? Under-achiever? Passed over for promotion? Inferiority complex? :D

He sounds like he leads a very exciting life Ian! Fancy the sweat he will have worked himself into researching all the standards that describe the reasonability of car size. Party round his house I reckon! :D

Obviously an employee with a lot of time on his hands to craft such a wordy note, although I'm pleased he did because it gave me a right laugh.

:)

He does raise a valid point. The QP is in no way they only offender. The first time I became aware of this was several years ago driving my 166 around the municipal car park in the centre of Lille. I couldn't fit into any of the few remaining spaces then I noticed that all the taken spaces were occupied by cars only inches apart. Did their owners climb out the sunroofs? The car park was probably perfectly adequate in the '70s but awful to use in the 2000s.

Cars have got too big.

Man, people have *way* too much time on their hands.

I must say, however, that the spaces in Epping car park are too small.

Maybe suggest that if they took out one space the remaining spots would have room for your deserving car...now whose space should they sacrifice...?

They are undeniably big cars and a pain to park in town centre car parks where you can't trust the door opening skills of adjacent cars.

Still, the guy sounds like an absolute insufferable tw@. Luckily you probably don't need to point that out because he has written an email which he may as well have signed off "Pompous old Windbag".

Why not get a toe bar fitted and pull a caravan to work?

In Paris...thats perfectly acceptable parking practice...................if you have a supercar over there, you either have access to private parking or park it illegally leaving hazard lights on and get a parking ticket....simples......;)....parking it on the street is palin stupid

I'd love to work with that fella. Is he an ok bloke or is he, shall we say, SA bit lacking?

I'd be interested to see pics of how you park. Is his allocated space smaller than the others? Is his confidence not that high?
I reckon I'd have had to do a 'reply all' "if you can't park your current car, perhaps it's not unreasonable to suggest it is you that brings a smaller car to work?"

And then let battle commence. No one moans about my Mas and gets away with it :)
