Passenger footwell light not turning off when locked

Hi, as the title says, 2008 GranTurismo - was all ready to go for a blast this afternoon and had a dead battery. I noticed a few weeks back when I locked it that the passenger footwell light stayed on, solved by opening and closing the door! Wondered if its done this again and flattened the battery, it was daylight when last locked so wouldn't have noticed the light. Also maybe related but when locking the indicators flash twice a bit after which would indicate a door open I'm guessing? Maybe the passenger door switch? Where is the passenger door switch?

May have to get a new battery first depending on whether this one recovers from it's flattening!

The double flash a few seconds after locking is the alarm telling you a door , boot or bonnet circuit is still open.

Im not familiar with the location on the GT but it will be a round black plunger button held in usually by one screw fitted into the door piller between the two hinges.

Short term fix take the plunger switch out and on the cable that attaches to it bridge /jump the wiring so that the alarm and puddle light see the car door as being closed all the time.

It is probably the same part as an alfa 159 so should not be to many £££s to fix and an easy diy job.

Most modern cars don’t have a switch in the door pillar. There is usually a micro switch within the door lock itself. I think the Granturismo is one of these.

I believe it is, but that would also leave the courtesy overhead lamp on (assuming it is set thus)

Yes, I was thinking this as the dome lights go out and I don't get a door open indication in the dash - anyhow the battery seems to be toast now, my tester is saying replace even after the CTEK says its ok.

Its a Yuasa so based on previous comments about their reliability I will order an Exide or Varta and pick up on the fault finding when that arrives. Hopefully my body computer isn't going wonky

Tanya are doing decent prices on the bosch s5 platinum and the excide batteries at the moment. Delivery in 48 hrs.

Quick update on this, CTEK reconditioning seems to have recovered my battery although I should have a new one delivered tomorrow anyhow.

Scan with my Foxwell revealed a CAN bus failure on the passenger door which I cleared but the problem still exists with the double flash after locking. And I get an alarm failure symbol now. Also I have 'Body Computer not responding' on the Foxwell - I removed the body computer a while back whilst checking for continuity to the alarm siren (still not working after replacement), problem is one of the rear connectors is an absolute * to get back on, wondering if this isn't fully seated as you can't see it.

When the new battery arrives I will see if that makes a difference and I guess will need to whip the body computer out again to check the connector , took me 45mins and a blood donation to get it on last time!

Could it be the dome itself? There's a PCB there that controls the alarm / motion sensor and doubtless other bits and bobs. Mine went kaput and left me with a double flash on locking and an alarm icon (padlock) on the dash. The reality is the alarm was fine, just the motion sensor didn't work. The footwell light was not part of the issue I had.
