E10 is bad news for older petrol cars. Eats away at the fuel lines particularly if cars are stored with near empty tanks, though you can get a stabiliser. Mainly an issue on 80s and 90s cars though.

And yet again not dealing with the real polluters. Shipping, the developing world, parts of SE Asia, loss of rainforest etc etc

Oh, if only we had an amazing invention that could absorb CO2. Oh, we do, trees? Stop allowing the South Americans to cut them down then.

I think they sell this in Ireland, as some sort of super-unleaded, it's more expensive but has the same RON. Think it's sold as 'Miles More' or something like that. I tried it once and got a CEL which was easily cleared but I'm sure it caused the light knocking I could hear on idle which has now gone BTW. I've gone back to the normal stuff.

And the energy that type of fuel produces is way down on normal 98 Ron, particularly felt on old spec petrol turbo engines

I'd go as far to say if you ran an old school 3200 on that stuff for long enough the engine would be scrap.
But that's what the government wants!

No- stick to no ethanol fuel as long as you can get it. For a while I ran E10 ethanol petrol in my modern V8 efi Volvo penta powerboat engine in Florida- it caused a breakdown caused by white sludge gumming up the fuel filter- and in older boats it ate the rubber in fuel lines also causing blockages. I went back to non-ethanol fuel and no problems ever since...66328

E10 is the “normal” 95 RON unleaded in France and only some stations sell E5 RON and at a higher price due to taxation incentives for the E10. I always pay the little more for the E5 (which is what 95RON in the U.K. is at present) or 98 if I can get it to be on the safe side. Despite Brexit, looks like U.K. is headed the same way soon.

Don't even get me started on that....

So, the government (they don't deserve a capital G anymore) are pushing ahead with HS2 at a cost of £106bn (before it inevitably doubles or more) in order to connect the so-called Northern Powerhouse (which doesn't exist and is a made up term only) and reduce journey times by up to 1.5 hours. Note that the tracks do not extend past Manchester in the north - which isn't actually in the North at all and the term would upset the Starks at Castle Black deeply - and Leeds to the East, again it's not really in the east and the good folks of Newcastle, Sunderland etc would not like any accusations of Leeds being in the North East. Because it's not.

And yet a provincial airline which connects the truly far reaching areas of the UK - Inverness, Aberdeen, Belfast etc with Birmingham, East Midlands, Bournemouth, Exter, St. Ives, Bristol is not worth either a paltry £100m loan or being nationalised.

I don't know what the Fcuk is going on in Westminster but it's certainly not clever and seeks only to alienate the SE corner from the rest of the UK further.

That's right - the government has allowed something that costs 1060X (yes over a thousand times) the amount and might save you an hour on a train ride, yet hasn't helped the wider UK or those directly and indirectly dependent on the supply of air travel to have a chance.

And some people wonder why there is real vitriol for the Tory Treasury.

The time from London to Birmingham will be cut by a WHOPPING 29 minutes. Time that could otherwise be spent catching up on sleep, reading emails, surfing social media or reading a book.

I lived in London for quite a long time. Never once wanted to go to Birmingham. Regardless of how long the journey would take.
