In an optimistic mood I gambled clouds would clear and Grimsel would be fine (can't be right all of the time)

But it gave time for Sustens to improve a bit

And it was his birthday (although we missed the precise moment - catching @doodlebug? - so he was given more champagne this time with the help of some English speaking Austria motorbikers)



We then gave him this OMS moment (one of several) on the Klausen pass


(reputedly the most dangerous road in Switzerland because of the dreadful road surface which we will agree with - shame because everything else is beautiful

Not a pic of the day but a video. Although I am the only one who is interested as it is my son thought I would share.

Didn’t realise it was being filmed but two weeks ago Alex had the final race of the season in his Karting. Last year he won but this time he was sitting in 7th out of 35 but there was only 1 point between the the first 8 to take 2nd.

Alex had a good qualifying which put him 3rd (yellow helmet) on the grid in the A final so was in a good place to defend his tile. Unfortunately on lap two a school boy error left the door open on the top corner and 5th punted fourth from behind which gave him the edge to get past and Alex dropped to 5th. You can see his frustration as he hits the steering wheel. A spinner put him up to 4th and then the leaders collided but the luck didn’t go Alex’s way as he was on the wrong side of the accident and couldn’t benefit from it so finished 5th in race and 4th overall. If he had made up two places he would have got a second. That’s racing. So close and still lots of fun. On to the next season in August.

But I'm sure the sky isn't normally as blue - it was hot (36 deg C but on the cols, about 900 feet, the temp would drop to 25) p- but Roary, despite working hard, kept us cool.
