NSU Ro 80. Very advanced, but flawed. West German NSU launched the Wankel rotary-engined Ro 80 in 1967. Their revolutionary sedan won the European Car of the Year award in 1968, but also left NSU bankrupt by 1969. Almost half a century later, driving it is a unique and surprisingly pleasant experience.View attachment 122974
Always wanted one, but could only afford an NSU Prinz

There is an older lady local to me who has an Astra GTE like the one in the photo as her daily... make me smile when I see it leaving work.

Which was the Best always the Golf for myself ?
It was a close call, it’s subjective but I think the Astra was better looking, you sat lower in it too, which gave a more sporty feel. The golf was better developed though generally, quality wise. Though neither ever broke down. Performance very similar but the golf had better brakes as the Astra still had drums on the rear.

Common upgrade on Astra GTEs was to put the Cavalier rear axle in complete with rear discs

The guy in our local motor club modified a Astra sheel to run Manta 400 running gear, 2.4 16V engine, 5 speed box and rear wheel drive, it was a beast in the forests

Second major change I did on my MK1 Golf GTi Rally car was disc brake the rear end after the Weber DCOE carburettors went on over 35 years ago now.
