Great to have owned one Andy and your playlist has some real stars on it! I had one of the first E46 M3s in the UK in 2001 and loved that too. It would make my top 10 cars I have owned. I remember when a good friend, and fellow 964 driver at the time, test drove a CSL and said it was truly a weekend car as it was much edgier, much noisier and less practical. I may be mistaken but I think it was considered by many journos to be a bit like the 964RS, a bit too impractical, which hampered values of both in the early days. How that has changed! Was thinking it was a CSL but think it is a standard E46 with lots and lots of upgrades.
My M3 CSL was the best car I have even had and I really want it back.
