A couple of years ago I was working a late night freight from Wembley to Crewe with a Class 66 loco, just a few miles north of Northampton I spotted someone in a field on top of a step ladder pointing a camera at me, as I approach him at about 60mph the camera's flash goes off, I give the bloke a long toot on the horn for being a bit of a knob and then realised it was one of my workmates, I caught up with him a few days later and he said ''sorry about the flash but I wanted a pic of your loco, it's me last one for the book''. Train spotters and train drivers are sometimes exceedingly well crossbred...!
Often see the same old faces 'of a certain age' at strategic locations up and down the routes I drive, I think some of their womenfolk are just happy to get them out of the house post retirement.
Back on topic, as if we needed one.... I've run out of old Maser shots so here's something from uncle Ferruccio's mob instead, c/o those nice people at Bertone....
