My fav actor. ‘The King of Cool’. Rumour has it that he once turned down a date with Ali McGraw because he was too busy waxing his Belstaff.

I was working in Chicago a number of years ago and sat in a bar watching a baseball game when the guy next to me commented on my Tag Monaco - proceeding to tell me that he sold his when he found out what a (and I'm quoting) "wife beating piece of sh!t" Mcqueen was. When I said I owned the watch because I liked it and not because of the Mcqueen link, he proceeded to lecture me and tell me to sell it until I (not so politely) told him to shut up.

I wasn't aware of his reputation or some of the things he had done.....well worth a read. Especially how he treated McGraw

Yep he had a bit of chequered past to say the least. I don’t condone violence at all. I just liked him as an actor and his fashion style I guess.

Also, I don't really get the logic: "That watch is associated with a bad guy; you should sell it to another person, so they can wear it instead."

SM's are great cars, mostly mis understood by the less technically orientated
I had the good fortune to blag a new one for 5 weeks back in the summer of 1987
Mr Lister of Listers in Coventry had one with lots of electrical faults
There were no Masers dealerships back then and Citroen didn't speak Italian!

So me and the then girl friend, rocked around the UK most of the summer in this lovely car while I fixed all the faults.
Mr Lister is still around, saw him a couple of years ago at a car show, he still mentions his old SM.:)

Haven't been in a while, was popular at their original location for car rallies in the fields in front.
Their new location not the same and no real area for rallies unfortunately.
