Portable Garages

Evening everyone

Have any of you had any first hand experience of portable garages?
I am interested in using one for my next Maser - I don't have a garage or a car port and want to keep the car covered up from the elements but have found a regular cover somewhat limited when it comes to storing a dirty or wet car.

I have a good, sheltered & secure spot in the garden and was looking at one of the garages from Dancover with the ground cover. I live next to a farm and want to avoid tempting the odd farm mouse from finding my engine bay a cosy, warm place to stay during the winter months.

Any advise or thoughts would be much appreciated.

Many thanks

I can't see how one of those will stop the local mouse (or rat or squirrel) taking up residence. Plenty of traps should do it though. Someone local used something similar as a horse shelter in the middle of an exposed field and it surprisingly stood up to the Scottish winter gales. Probably far superior to a car cover.

Agreed, a few well placed traps should do the trick but good to hear that one survived the gales. Cheers

If its in the garden, and you don't or can't build a proper garage, how about a wooden garden shed just big enough?

Other options could be a folding back 'pram' type temp. garage, or an outside inflatable Carcoon. Both being non contact so can be used with the car dirty.

I hadn't considered one of those, I'll take a look into it - thanks Mike

Pics as promised, I used this "car tent" at three different houses.
It was great until it collapsed under the weight of the snow

And this is what it looks like after some snow, so make sure you get a robust one!

Thanks for the photos Dan, the cars look great in there too - so it looks around 6 x 3m I guess, does that sounds about right?
Cheers, Stuart
