Power steering rack gear cover missing?

Hey all,

Part way through changing the oil filter on my Spyder (what a pig this is turning out to be without a filter wrench tool) and I noticed what looks to be an exposed part of the power steering rack gearing. Surely there should be a cover over this preventing dirt etc?

If so, anyone know what the part number is please?

I don’t think I’ve seen one with a cover there. I thought the same thing when I first saw it.

It amazes me what is exposed on the underside of a car. I was surprised to find that on the QPV (and I'm sure it is common elsewhere) the gear selection control rods sit outside the gearbox, vulnerable to being jammed with road debris.

Well, you want to cover your rack with foil to start with, and then have an uncovered rack for the really hot bit at the end.
