Yesterday I noticed my passenger front door wasn't staying shut, and after getting no-where with fiddling with the mechanism on the end of the door, I realised the problem was with the external manual door opening lever. For some reason this has stayed depressed when it was last used, and so the door didn't catch when closed and just bounced open again. The interior lever works fine to open the door, as does the exterior electric button.
My solution was to use a micro screwdriver to prize out the manual door opening lever (from the underside, so I didn't leave any visible marks), and hey presto, the door then closes fine.
My trouble is, when used to open the door once more, this lever still stays depressed and won't spring back as it should. I've squirted in WD40 as best as I can (it's all pretty tight around there) but it still won't slacken off enough to spring back into place, and I'm worried now part of the internal mechanism is broken or come loose.
Any thoughts, or similar experiences?
