Hard to say......depends on lots of factors......QP used more, daily driver, less good at holding its value hence Cat c/d more often than GT.........plus these are USA incidents.........need I say any more!!!!!!!

More cars that are older so the cost of repair makes is uneconomical. One thing I have noticed is that most of the crashed QP's seem to have had a rattle along an armco with various panels with minor damage. When the suspension geometery is out the main handling issue seems to be high speed corners which may relate to people slightly losing it on curved motorway slip roads.

Obviously there will be differing opinions , but its ironic that the Turismo uses the same chassis platform and main suspension so does that beg the question that QP drivers are assuming it can do the same as the Turismo GT ,not accounting for the fact threre's approximately half a ton diffrence

As BB said, your well off with the weight. Also, to really compare you'd need the full data set not just the figures from one salvage yard.

Personally I think that it is all due to the QP having been out 3 years longer than the GT and the likelihood that annual mileages are higher due to its greater practically.

QP's are generally regarded as well-handling cars. Can't remember what magazine it is, but for a good while the QP held the saloon/sedan track record for its track tests.

If you look on Youtube you will see one being put through its paces by Clarkson - it seems rather better behaved than, say, a stock 4200!

In late 05 Evo tested a standard QP around the Bedford aerodrome track against a BMW Alpina V8 and a Cadillac V8, it beat them both. They then put a BMW M5 on the same track on the same day and the M5 was 1/100th sec. slower giving the QP the track record, for a while at least. So I wont be convinced that the QP is not anything but a terrific handling saloon hardly any heavier than the GT which in the real world wouldn't live with a QP duoselect. A GTS MC on the other hand has the grunt and the gearbox to put the QP in the shadebut I wouldn'y put my shirt on the GTS Auto beating the QP GTS by very much.

Another factor with the statistics could be that an awful lot of QPs in USA are leased short term or rented which means they are thrashed by people moving up from big Chryslers and the like who arn't used to bends let alone corners!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Barrie, how are things? My QP's still not blown up are the remap LOL although I'm not too sure if the exhausts have a little more soot in them than previously.

I've actually got a copy of that article from Evo that was sent to me as scans a few years back. I can dig them out if anybody is interested.

Hi Simon, things are good and glad to hear the remap is what you hoped for and that you are keeping well. Loved the picture of the new QP in EVO 163, what do you think?

New big QP is about a year away and the small QP and the Soft Roader are both about a 6/12 months after that. All speculation mind!

I heard it was the other way around as I believe they have not even signed off the floor pan for the big QP yet but the QP compact is beyond clay will be launched next Autumn. Again speculation but one clue is that absolutely no pictures or renditions from spy comments have been offered for the big QP said to be about a foot longer than the current model wheareas the compact QP is only 6 inches shorter with a more aggressive package and a direct injection V8 linked to an 8 speed auto with instant lock up. They will also offer it with the deisel being built for the utterly pointless Kubang.

Hear is the pic. Anyone prepared to bet it ends up after a year on the road with lowered ride height, 4.7 direct injection 470bhp and a California gearbox. OOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHH I think that's the sound I make when I'm having a really nice moment.

The Italians are very good at making saloons look like extended Coupes. Personally I prefer estates to saloons and would love a Maser wagon.
