Rumour has it that the Cali was originally a Maserati design but they couldn't build it for the specified target cost so Ferrari stuck a black horse on it and it allowed them to bump up the asking price.

Hi Barrie, congratulations on your new car. It looks really great in that colour, is it Grigio Silverstone? Have you had it on your wheel balancing machine yet?

How's the QP running, did you get the DMS map reapplied to your car? At my last service about 6 weeks ago the SD3 read misfires on 3 cylinders (commonly due to spark plugs). The chap at Milbrooke looked at what DMS had done and said that if the spark plugs were bad the car wouldn't run with those fuel/air settings. He reset the codes and after some testing nothing would come up as an error so possibly those errors could have been there years and the previous "main dealer" never bothered to clear or even read them.

thanks

As far as I can see, the California and the 458 are not far apart on performance, considering the Cali is a drophead I think it has great specs..!!

I disagree, the 458 is on another planet. Mind you, the Cali is no slouch but not on the same level.

On a side note, seriously considered a Cali myself before the downturn in work and an angry wife put an end to that thought. I had a ride in one and loved it. Awesome car.

Hi Simon,

Glad to hear your issues have been dealt with and no fault can be laid at the door of DMS. I decided in the end not to have the remap reapplied as the car goes so well in its current set up. I asked Meridien to check the Engine and Gearbox set up and apply the very latest configuration with the wick turned up as much as poss within the peramiters they have at their disposal and it goes very well indeed always feeling up on its toes and eager to go. That might be down to the 46000 miles on the clock and another Dyno test confirming 424.8 BHP in standard trim. More than pleased.

Yes the Cali is in Silverstone Grey with Beige interior and yes it was the first thing I did when I got it home. Guess what..........all the wheels were between 6 and 10 grammes out so when after 2 hrs of really anal attention they now all read 00 with 0.5 gramme tolerance. Feels different ............really.

hope your'e well and maybe see you at an event sometime.

Hi BF,
I think if they were both coupes then you would have a point, but for a drophead, which are heavier and have different wind resistance, performance wise the cali is theoretically on a par. I know the 458 is quicker, it should be, but the Cali for a front engined drophead is pretty darn good overall.
Cheers

Hi Barrie,
I remember those photos from about 5-6 years ago around the time of a rumoured new 2 seater Maserati, maybe it was just a ruse to keep it a secret Ferrari intended to add a new model line?

So whats your take on the NEW QP? Is it different enough from the existing model to make a trade in worth while?
