QP V creaking noise. Your experience please guys

Hi Guys,

Late 2007 QP 4.2 Sport GT, well loved and maintained, including very recent front suspension damper
bushes and the front anti roll bar drop links, but last couple of days I'm hearing a really rough creaking noise when going over speed bumps or bad surfaces. Steering and handling is fine and she runs as beautifully as ever. Any ideas or similar experience before I head off to my local Masser care and cash extraction centre?

Up to £6k in fixes this year so far (thank god for warranty), so hoping for no more expensive bad news.

Cheers

From what I can tell I'm thinking front passenger side, but quite hard to be accurate as the sound seems to travel underneath both front seats

It's either bushes or like my brothers car it was the damper rod bush. Take the wheel off, jack it up so the suspension is at full droop and liberally spray the shock rod with WD40 where it goes into the damping chamber.

Worked a treat!

Also dribbled some oil into the bush at the bottom of the shock too.

WD 40, always worth a go, thanks for the suggestion. I think the constant punishing from those bloody potholes are really taking their toll on my baby. Grrr....

Better to use a silicone based grease spray as surely WD40 will just evaporate and wash away? Just an idea?

Agreed, had the very same on both maseratis and countless cars I have had in the past. WD40 worked for about a day, something like GT85 or the likes seemed to work for months on end, that and I have used a spray grease in the past as well

If it is anything like mine, it is the bottom wishbone ball joint that has failed. That will be £1k for a new wishbone as the ball joint is integral and can not be changed. Also, I found the replacement was different and so had to get a secondhand hub carrier and top wishbone........ still saving up to get them fitted!

Thanks guys. I'm in with the tech guys on Friday now to have a look at the rear blind motor, so I'll get them to check it out at the same time, but really hoping justhb is wrong on this one ! - grease is a lot cheaper !
